Because most people think networking on LinkedIn means waiting for the right people to magically find them.
Now, I'm not saying that won't happen if you're taking the right actions...
But LinkedIn also gives you tools to actively go find your people.
For example:
I know. Not very exciting.
But hear me out.
Most people only use the search bar when they're looking for someone's name.
โ Maybe they met someone at an event.
โ Maybe they received a referral.
โ Maybe they're trying to reconnect with someone.
Great.
But that's only one way to use it.
Think about it this way:
LinkedIn is a platform where people use their real names and real professions.
That means you can search for much more than names.
โ Looking to connect with people locally?
Looking for potential clients?
Looking for referral partners?
You can also combine searches. This is something I learned from Brittany Miller...
Let's say you're looking for Financial Advisors in Ontario.
You can search:
Financial Advisor AND Ontario
Just remember that AND needs to be written in capital letters for LinkedIn to recognize it properly.
Simple.
So if you've been wondering how to find your people on LinkedIn, start with the search bar.
You might be surprised by how many interesting people are already waiting for you there.
