Printing to the edge? Don’t forget the bleed. ✂️

If your background, colour or images extend to the edge of your design, your print file needs bleed, extra artwork that extends beyond the final trim size.

Why? Because even a tiny amount of movement during cutting can leave an unwanted white edge. Adding proper bleed helps ensure your finished piece trims cleanly from edge to edge.

It’s a small detail, but it can make a big difference in the final result.

Why doesn’t half the printing quantity cost half the price? 🤔

With commercial printing, a lot of the cost can happen before the first piece is even produced — file preparation, press setup, plates, dies, specialty inks and finishing setup can all be part of the job.

Once production is running, additional pieces often become more economical. The size of your project matters too: smaller items like business cards can fit more pieces on a press sheet, so the cost per piece can decrease faster as quantities increase.

That’s why 500 pieces might not cost half as much as 1,000 — and sometimes ordering a little more gives you significantly better value per piece.

Commercial printing is all about finding the quantity that makes sense for your project and your budget.
