This weeks blog post emphasizes on Black men's mental health. What many people dont realize is that this percentage of people are severly challenged when it comes to mental health. Reason being is that racism is still very previlent, and having people of all kinds have something against you causes great pressure that leads to mental health. Also black men seeking for help will gravitate towards receing aid from other black therapists when only 4% of the psychology workforce is black people. African american people are ranked the 2nd most affected by mental health issues, reason being mainly due to the lack of resources and poverty in black communities.

This weeks topics focuses on gaming. The majority of gamers today are men and the question is; why do men tend to gravitate more towards gaming then woman. As we talked about in the previous blog, men tend to avoid opening up about their feelings. By playing video games, they are able to get their mind away from their problems and reach comfort. It is a very accessible resource for anyone to escape the letdowns of their daily lives.

Therefor if you are a mother or a father reading this and often takes away video games from your child. Take this post in consideration as it might help them forget about their daily letdowns.
Other alternatives to video games which are better for you can be reading books, working out or playing a sport.

As always, if you need anyone to talk to, that’s what we’re here for. You can leave a comment on our blog or contact us on Instagram or Facebook if you are seeking help. Feel free to share this facebook post so that we can further spread the word about men’s mental health.

The latest blog post talks about the uniqueness of mens mental health. All genders suffer from mental health, no denying in that. The reason why this page was created was to highlight the difficulty men have in opening up and seeking help for their issues. For years men have been reinforced the idea that "men dont express theur emotions" and that seeking help is a sign of weakness. What that does is completely shut down that idea when an issue occures. The idea of getting help and opening up is completely shut down and the consequences of that are completely disregarded. Gender roles has made it so hard for men to open up about thier personal life without being judged or ridiculed. A way for that to be avoided is to support each other, escpecially with your close family. A supportive father shouldn't be using old sayings like "boys don't cry" or "take it like a man" since that could make thier child develope with unhealthy habits mentioned before.

We have made an anonymous survey to get a better understanding of who we are reaching out to. Feel free to answer to it if you feel comfortable enough.

This weeks blog post focuses on bullying and the perspectives of the victim and the bully. Bullying has been around for a long time now, both young boys and girls fall victim to it due to lack of maturity and empathy for others feelings. Focusing on boys bullying its been noticed that it tends to be more physical bullying where big groups of kids repededly pick on weaker kids that are prone to menacing tactics and arent brave enough to speak up.

On the other hand, I you have been a bully in the past you might not of even noticed it. Some boys consider it cool or rebellious to pick on kids smaller or weaker than them, but kids dont understand the damage that bullying does to young men, some goes even past physical and goes to a psycological level. Only so much schools can do to prvent bullying, but so much happens under the radar that the only way to make a true difference is to put confidence in kids so they can speak up on their situation

Over the years the chances of being a kid living under two different roofs are more than 50%, some are fortunate enough to be able to say they havent had to go thorugh that trauma. Growing up without a positive father figure may not be all that bad, but there are times where you simply cant share everything with your mother, feeling like she wouldn't understand you. Thats sometimes the issue with only living with a mother. Fathers are there to teach boys how to be boys. Without a way of expressing yourself it causes a void that is often filled with distractions like video games, youtube videos or eating.
In todays society, pressure is put onto men that all they are good for is making money and having a nice big reputation. The sad truth is that family is sometimes left out, and that in itself is what causes high su***de rates in young teens.
If you can relate this information at all, feel free to post an anonymous comment or send a message to our page, we are available all the time to answer any inquires.
Please follow our blog and instagram page, as that would help tremendously in spreading the word about boys mental health.

Mental health has been an up and coming issue around the world especially during this pandemic. With social distancing, it became harder to talk and meet new people which led many to suffer from this disease. One of the topics discussed in our blog linked below is the issue stress students get over school. Often times students are overwhelmed with homework which leads them to spend their nights working instead of doing what they enjoy. Due to the overlooked issue that boys suffer from, it is often the case where help is not offered privately to students. Boys have unique needs and the sad truth is that they are not receiving enough attention, thus can lead to depression and even in some cases, su***de.

As mentioned above, mental health is an issue that is often disregarded for boys or men as they tend to hide their emotions. But it is important to realize that this issue is still present and this is why we are here to help. It is also important to realize that you are not the only one and that it is no shame to reach out to us and find help if you are going throughout hard times.

As per usual, you can always reach out to us here or by instagram () if you are suffering from this disease or you can also contact the Canadian Mental Health Association by phone (514 521-4993) or by email ([email protected])

Becoming a young man is the entrance into a transitional period in who you are, and often markers that indicate how successful you will be as an adult tend to appear in the years between ages 16 to 21. Hi, we are a group of young college students that have a vision to inform people on boys mental health. We want to lead an informational campaign in order to raise awareness about this perhaps overlooked issue. By spreading the message, we're letting young men know that they are not alone in their emotional struggles. This idea that society forces onto boys about being tough and emotionless is nothing but a myth, which is why we are here to encourage young males to talk about their issue on a safe platform.

Follow this campaign so we can all make a change. , , ,
