Is web design dying?

If you spend any time online, you'd think AI has already replaced web designers and that the industry is finished.

After more than 20 years building websites, I've seen this kind of prediction before. Templates, website builders, Fiverr, no-code tools, and now AI have all been called the "end" of web design.

But I think something more interesting is happening.

A client recently contacted me asking if I would build an adult website.

I said no.

Not because I’m against the industry.
Not because I think I’m morally superior.
And not because other designers shouldn’t do it.

I said no because I started thinking about something a lot of freelancers ignore:

Every client you accept slowly shapes your reputation, your portfolio, and the type of business you become known for.

Sometimes quick money can quietly pull your brand in the wrong direction long term.
