When you cannot afford a professional website...
But you know the importance of a solid online presence!
Since the last few months I've been receiving feedback from clients and friends.
They are worried for not having a good website, but even more, because they cannot afford a professional one.
They know that promoting themselves from an IG profile, a linktree or a free Wix website, is not cool, and gives them a cheap, selfish, poor impression.
They were overlooking a great opportunity, a great FREE option...
A LinkedIn profile!
I wanted to help, so I made this list of 10 free LinkedIn features that can definitely help you to show a more professional online presence:
1. Headline & Banner Image, can showcase album art, tour visuals, or professional performance shots.
2. About/Summary Section, as a narrative space to tell your story, mission, and unique value proposition.
3. Featured Section, works as a portfolio hub for videos (music videos, live performances), audio files, links to streaming platforms, press features, and downloadable media kits.
4. Experience & Projects, showcases professional history not just as "gigs," but as projects (album releases, major tours, compositions for media).
5. Recommendations & Skills, works as a social proof from collaborators, clients, or industry mentors. Endorsed skills (e.g., Music Composition, Live Performance, Music Production) validate expertise.
6. Articles & Posts (Activity Section), establishes thought leadership. Share insights on the music industry, your creative process, or behind-the-scenes content.
7. Services (If using LinkedIn's "Services" feature), allows you to include a list of your services (e.g., Session Musician, Music for Film, Private Lessons) and allows direct inquiries through LinkedIn.
8. Connections & Network, gives you direct access to industry professionals (producers, venue managers, brand managers, other artists).
9. Groups & Communities, connects you with groups for film composers, music educators, or specific genres to engage with potential clients and peers.
10. Contact Info & Call-to-Action (CTA). The "Contact Info" section can include links to your website, Linktree, or booking platform.
