The White House website started using back in 2009. This was a big move both for the government and the open-source software. However, with the new president, the decisions have changed. At the end of 2017, the White House website was moved to WordPress. There were no loud announcements related to the move. It is being said that the change is a money-saving move. Some suggested that Andrew Nacin, the WordPress lead developer, had something to do with the transition, since Nacin is working for the U.S. Digital Service. However, in his Twitter post the developer stated he had no relation to the move from Drupal and added that, in his opinion, the website lacks some functionality seen on other sites.
