Some of the league’s top players earn multi-million dollar salaries every year, drawing fans, headlines, and huge expectations. Meanwhile, many essential jobs in Canada—teachers, nurses, doctors don’t come nearly as close to those numbers, even though their work directly impacts millions of lives.
Is it fair that athletes are paid this much for performing on the ice, or is it just the reality of professional sports and entertainment? Do their contracts reflect their skill, market demand, and the revenue they generate, or is it too much compared to everyday Canadians?
