I believe it takes a special kind of publicist to focus on art, and even more specifically, the English arts community of Montreal. That is why I have started Ashley Belmer PR - helping small Montreal Arts organizations, venues, local bands, and / or artists get noticed. When I did my Graduate Degree in Public Relations in Toronto, I sometimes felt different. Most students wanted to work in banks,
PR firms or large corporations after graduating. I on the other hand, finished my degree, and immediately did everything in my power to obtain a position in PR for the performing arts, music or visual arts in my native city of Montreal. Some of my classmates were flabbergasted - they couldn’t figure out how I could turn down money, and chances in Toronto, to go work for a small non-profit theatre company in Montreal, doing a job made for three people, with minimal pay. But I loved every minute of it, and realized I had finally found my calling – helping the Montreal arts scene achieve success and attention is all I have ever really wanted to do – and I am thrilled, after doing marketing, PR and fundraising for Black Theatre Workshop for 5 years, and finishing off doing marketing for the JFL Festival this summer, to venture out on my own to help out not just one company, but many in dire need of great publicity. So, if your theatre company, band, museum, arts venue, or anything relating to the arts community of Montreal are in need of great Publicity, Marketing, Branding, Graphic Design and / or Fundraising do not hesitate to contact Ashley Belmer PR.
