The best thing you can do for your business in 2024 is get to know your target audience.

Who can forget the Snoop Dogg X Solo Stove campaign that went viral November. However, recently it came out that Solo Stove has since mutually separated ways with their CEO over the lack of results.

While the campaign was brilliant and it was the definition of how to go viral it is the perfect case study for why knowing your audience is the most important part of your marketing strategy. The campaign became an expensive exercise in why going viral shouldn't be the main focus in any strategy.

Did you fill in your profile when you first opened your account and have completely ignored it ever since?

Go update it!!

You want it to be clear about what you do and make sure that your audience can find all of the updated, relevant info they need quickly! Here are my top tips!

• Get rid of the hashtags they do absolutely nothing in your profile
• The only line on your profile that is searchable is your name. Keep in mind what searches you want to show up in when creating your name.
• The rest of your description space should be used to clearly tell your audience what it is that you do.
• Your profile picture should either be yourself (if you are your business) or your logo.
• If you have a website make sure the link is there. (PS. if you have your own website get rid of link tree and create a landing page on your own site to use instead)
• Go through your highlights and update them accordingly. Get rid of old info - and take notes of what is missing! This can be a great inspiration for new content.
• Go through your feed and archive old posts that no longer speak to who your company is or are no longer relevant.

Rinse and repeat every few months.
