Gestalt, interpreted as "pattern" or "configuration", emphasizes that humans perceive entire patterns or configurations, not merely individual components.

Laws derived from Gestalt psychology can give us valuable insights into how we perceive the world around us and how to create better designs.

Designers Series ep.02: In this episode, we examine the thoughts of the minimalist icon, Dieter Rams.

His unobtrusive approach and belief in "Less, but better" design generated a timeless quality in his products and have influenced the design of many products, which also secured Rams worldwide recognition and appreciation.

Can marketing be ethical?

I will argue that it absolutely needs to be. We're long past the time when buying 30 seconds of prime TV was enough to spike your sales regardless of the content of your ad. Just say your name enough times and it will be imprinted in people's heads.
That strategy won't fly today. People now make purchasing decisions based on how their personal values align with those of the brand.

Karl Lagerfeld may be said this in reference to the fashion industry, but this quote applies to branding as well. Every year we see a new passing trend, designers discovering new tools, trying new things, but fundamentals stay the same. Design principles are proven mechanisms that, when followed, deliver timeless designs. That's why Apple sticks with its designs for years – it simply works.

Designers Series ep.01: We start with the great Italian designer, Massimo Vignelli.

His ethos was, "If you can design one thing, you can design everything," and this was reflected in the broad range of his work.

Vignelli worked firmly within the Modernist tradition and focused on simplicity through the use of basic geometric forms in all his work.

Working from home sounds good in theory. All this extra commute time saved. The reality is completely different. In your home setting, you're surrounded with reasons to procrastinate. Trying to do so many things at once. Well, that doesn't really work. What you need to do is take a methodical approach. Monastic, Bimodal, Rhythmic, or Journalistic – pick one that fits you the best and stick with it. Results will come!
