GREATNESS is GROWING in size, skill, achievement or power.

Greatness and success are very subjective terms and depend on the individual. For myself, greatness is something that you do every single day by making small progress towards a goal that you have... its about growing and looking back at yourself 5 years from now and seeing all the great achievements and mountains you climbed that you thought you couldn't 💪.

After a much needed vacation, I completed another portfolio piece for a PowerPoint Presentation on a topic that most people feel they know enough about. However, sometimes going back to the basics to relearn how to do it properly can really help you improve on more complicated skills.

For this project, I designed some pieces in illustrator, such as the objectives slide with the circles interchanging with the photos. I used photoshop to make the slide designs and the completed project was imbedded into PowerPoint and sent to the client for them to be able to do any final revisions, and to use the presentation settings.

Since its really hot where I am in Canada today, I figured a nice sunny summer beach picture was in order... Bottle Island!

For this project, I used the quick selection tool in Adobe photoshop to cut out the sky, island, mountain under the island, water and the bottle itself. I then made them all combined using layer masks. For shadows and highlights, I used blending modes as well as the burn and dodge tool.

On this fine summer day, a change in color for sunglasses piece is necessary. 😎

This is a good skill to know as a graphic designer if you are creating product ads to show the variety of color options available.

In order to change the color, I had to create a layer mask of the sunglasses using the quick selection tool. This took lots of fine tuning to get it just right. Next, I added a solid color fill layer and selected Red as my first color change. Then I added a color blending mode and added a levels adjustment layer to adjust the highlights to brighten it up. Once I created one color I was able to just adjust the color fill layer making it easy to update the colors now and in the future.

The client wanted a printed brochure to have on hand to give to potential new members for their gym to see the price and benefits of choosing them over competitors in the area.

I created the brochure in adobe Illustrator after researching a variety of different competitor brochures. I determined a style that myself and the client liked and added in pictures from adobe stock photos and pixabay.com. I designed new corporate colours and a new logo for this project.
