You’re getting inquiries… so why aren’t you booked solid for Spring?

If you’re sitting on a few DMs or quote requests, but your calendar still has openings, this is likely where things are breaking down. It’s not always about getting more leads — it’s about what happens after someone reaches out.

Here’s where things usually fall off:

🟢 Replies take too long
🟢 No clear quote or next step
🟢 Not enough recent project photos
🟢 Weak or outdated reviews
🟢 No follow-up when someone goes quiet

Homeowners don’t overthink this. They go with the company that feels easiest to hire — fast response, clear process, and proof of good work.

You’re closer to being fully booked than you think. You just need to tighten the gap between inquiry and booking.

Happy first day of Spring!

Right now, homeowners are starting to think about their yards again. Not in a big, fully planned way, just noticing what needs attention after the winter. Cleanups, small fixes, bigger projects they didn’t get to last year.

When that shift happens, people start looking around to see who’s out there. They’ll check Instagram, Google a few companies, and click through profiles to get a sense of who’s active and doing good work.

Most of this happens before anyone reaches out. They’re just paying attention, seeing what feels like a fit, and mentally noting who they might contact when they’re ready.

If your content hasn’t been updated in a while or doesn’t clearly show what you do, it’s easy to get skipped over in that stage. Not because of the quality of your work, just because there’s nothing recent to go off of.

This time of year isn’t about doing more, it’s about making sure people can see what you already do.

Spring landscaping season is closer than it feels.

And for many companies, the first wave of inquiries starts weeks before the ground is fully thawed.

Before the rush begins, here are 5 things landscapers should tighten up online:

✳️ Update your Google Business photos with recent installs, patios, gardens, or outdoor spaces
✳️ Refresh your service pages so homeowners clearly understand what you offer (design, installs, maintenance, etc.)
✳️ Check your contact forms to make sure they’re easy to use on mobile
✳️ Reply to recent reviews from happy landscaping clients (and show them off!)
✳️ Test your lead response speed so inquiries don’t sit for hours or days

Most landscaping companies get busy in April, but homeowners usually start researching and reaching out in March.

The companies that show up early tend to book the strongest season.

Meet the Team 🌱

It’s been a while since we’ve formally introduced the people behind Landscaper Marketing — and with a few new team members joining us last year, it felt like a good time to start.

We’re kicking things off with our founder and CEO, Andrew.

With over 15 years in digital marketing, Andrew has built his career on helping service-based businesses grow through clear strategy and measurable results. He previously taught Digital Marketing, SEO, SEM Fundamentals, and Google Analytics at BrainStation and wrote three digital marketing courses for the University of British Columbia.

His background across education, technology, and digital media gives him a strong foundation in both strategy and ex*****on — something that’s critical when working with growing landscaping companies.

Andrew holds a Master of Science in IT, Management & Organizational Change from Lancaster University Management School in the UK, along with a B.A. in German Studies.

His Predictive Index is the Altruist, which reflects his commitment to building a fair, performance-driven agency that supports clients, team members, and partners alike.

Originally from England, Andrew has lived and worked across Europe and Asia before settling on Canada’s North Shore, where he lives with his wife and three daughters. He also runs a local North Van football group with over 200 members and has been DJing and producing podcast mixes since 2005.

The best Valentine’s gift is a schedule that fills itself.

Good marketing keeps your landscaping business top of mind long before homeowners start Googling in April.

Quick question for you, landscapers:

If referrals slowed down this season, would new leads still come in?

Of course, word-of-mouth is huge in the landscaping world, but it can ebb and flow depending on the year and the weather. The most consistent companies pair referrals with a steady online presence.

That might look like:

- Showing up on Google when homeowners search for local landscapers
- A simple gallery that proves the quality of your work
- Staying visible enough that past clients remember to refer you

You don’t need complicated marketing, you just need to ensure your referral engine is supported by data-driven online marketing.

One on-page SEO tweak landscapers can do this week 👇

If your page titles are vague, you’re making it harder for potential clients (and Google) to understand what you actually offer.

This week’s task:

Choose one key page — your homepage or a main service page.

Rewrite the page title using:

• Your service
• Your location
• Your business name

For example:

❌ Our Work
❌ Services
✅ Lawn Care & Landscape Maintenance in Kelowna | Company Name

Why it works:

Page titles are a major ranking signal and strongly influence whether someone clicks your site when it shows up in search results.

No full website refresh needed.

One page. One improvement. Done.

January can feel slow in landscaping — and that often makes people question their marketing.

Here’s the thing: good off-season marketing is usually pretty boring.

And that’s a good sign.

This is the time for consistency, tightening up your systems, and making sure follow-ups don’t slip — not reinventing the wheel because phones aren’t ringing much yet.

The landscapers who stay visible now are the ones with fuller schedules when spring hits.

Quiet work now. Strong momentum later.

If you’ve ever thought,

“We’re getting leads… so why aren’t we booking more jobs?”

you’re not alone.

New industry data shows something interesting:

- Search (Google) still drives most new inquiries
- Social and video help people decide who they trust
- But the biggest breakdown happens after someone reaches out

A lot of landscaping businesses lose good leads simply because there’s no clear follow-up process.

Slow replies. Missed messages. No system to track who needs a call back.

And today, responsiveness is a competitive advantage.

Most homeowners don’t contact just one company — they contact the first one that gets back to them and sounds organized.

Good marketing gets you found.

Good follow-up turns that attention into booked work.

Both matter.
