Latest project through the Self Publishing Agency. I adore this concept and can't wait to get my hands on a copy when it's printed. The satisfaction of helping people bring their books to life is indescribable, and this one is no exception.

Sometimes it’s a decision between shades of blue. Or maybe it’s making the font a little leaner so it increases legibility. And very often, it’s a discussion about what you want readers to feel or expect as they pick up your book.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Book covers can prompt big conversations - and can genuinely help or hurt how a book does in the marketplace. Because, we do judge books by their covers. If we didn’t, we might as well just hand write a title on white piece of paper that suggests, “Guess what this book is about!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Accomplishment Journal brought on a great conversation about consumers, readers, and genre comparisons. And knowing what we do now, author Sydney Baker and her TSPA designer, Laura nailed it.

COVER REVEAL🎉
It is with great excitement that I can officially introduce: The Accomplishment Journal.

A place for your most valuable work experiences to live until you’re ready to leverage them in job interviews or performance reviews. 🙌

It’s the ULTIMATE secret weapon if you work in...
web development,
customer service,
administration,
advertising,
sales,
accounting,
graphic design,
human resources,
operations,
media,
computer sciences,
content writing,
project management,..or really ANY job that has room to grow! 🚀

HOW IT WORKS:
The book includes weekly and monthly journal questions, designed to keep track of important work experiences (relevant to common interview topics) AND to help you identify “value-added” achievements as they happen.

That way, whenever it’s time for a new job or asking for a raise, you’ll have tons of ammo to work with!

Simply flip through your entries and remember all that you have accomplished. ✨💪 LAUNCH DETAILS:
I’m so excited to announce that we’ll be launching a Kickstarter Campaign in just a few days, with delivery in time for Christmas! So stay tuned, I’ll be sharing more details very soon ♥️

My dear friend and design client Colleen invited me on a bike ride! Colleen is such a stand-up person and a ray of sunshine, and I love getting to spend time with her. She deserves to be commended for all the work she does to promote cycling in the Lower Mainland. We worked together on her book, Let's Go Biking, for a couple of years before it was published last year, but today is the first time we were able to go out on an actual bike ride together, following one of the routes she outlines in her book (last image). She let me try out her e-bike and my life will never be the same!! (I'm already plotting how I'm going to get my hands on one...) We did a 30km bike ride along the North Shore Spirit Trail like it was nothing. I feel renewed and refreshed. Nothing like being a tourist in your own city! @ North Shore Spirit Trail

I did a thing - screenprinting!! (This was actually last year's birthday present from but I was spectacularly late redeeming it). I designed the mushroom graphic and printed it myself onto tote bags and a t-shirt at Blim on Pender Street. I am officially in love and now have a new hobby! Yuriko Blim was a really great teacher and made a complicated process seem simple. Plus, her storefront is what psychedelic dreams are made of 😍 all in all I had an amazing time. @ Blim

Fascinating! Whether these were staged or not, the results were absolutely worth it!

New branding/layout project! (My favourite...) The Metro Vancouver Real Estate Guide asked me to refresh their magazine headers/logo, magazine covers, media kit, house ads and signage. The last photo in the group is their previous magazine design.

I love getting the chance to reimagine something that already works. Gently bringing an existing project up to date can sometimes be easier than starting from scratch, and it's immensely satisfying to be able to help a business step up their marketing game!

These folks were gracious, easygoing and great to work with. They trusted me to do my thing and that's something I don't take lightly.

If you see these guides around the Lower Mainland, pick one up, they're free! I can't say the same thing about the houses they advertise, though... *sad tuba*

My jaw hit the floor when I found out that The Final Swipe, the book I designed for through hit bestseller status on Amazon yesterday! The entire team zoomed through this project at light speed (we all made this happen in a month!!) and I'm thrilled I was able to come along for the ride! Congrats Nikki!! 💫✨

Got my hands on some of the Walgreens Back to School stationery I designed last year! The holographic material is kind of unreal in person (and difficult to photograph, but we tried!) Thanks to my dear friend who picked these up while she was in the States. The collection was pretty picked over when she grabbed these and not many pieces were left, which I'm going to take as a good sign! I'm grateful for the opportunity to have worked on this collection. Lots of hard work, but I will honestly never get tired of seeing things I've made out in the real world. (Also, if I could design planners all day every day, I'd be super happy...just saying...)

Latest challenge: 15-minute bicycle sketch with our non-dominant hand. I knew it would be difficult, but this one was really tricky. At one point my right hand almost grabbed the pen out of my left hand in frustration! And I had no idea how sore my poor left arm would get! We tend to take our abilities for granted. How I love you, right hand!! ✋

In the end, I loved the sketch so much, I decided to sketch again with my dominant hand to see how that one looked. I figured it would be sooooo much better than the first one...well, I'm not sure about that, but it's fun to flip between the two drawings and spot the differences! Great idea, !

This little biking guide is getting around! As of today, the book is now available in 50 bookstores in the Lower Mainland and Whistler, as well as many public libraries (and of course online at letsgobiking.net). Great job!!
