1 in 5 shelter users in Canada are youth.
Here in Toronto, the emergency shelter system currently accommodates approximately 9,000 people nightly – more than 35% of whom are asylum seekers. Youth shelters across our city are at 97% occupancy. Finding a safe place to sleep is nearly impossible.

Please help provide a home for the holidays by giving to the YWS Home for the Holidays Campaign, where donations will be matched up to $200,000 thanks to a group of generous benefactors.

Our statement regarding the recent anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate crime at St. Aidan's Anglican Church in Oakville.

The slides read:
We recently learned about a targeted anti-2SLGBTQIA+ hate crime at St. Aidens Anglican church in Oakville.
This crime involved homophobic and transphobic vandalism on and around the church, and destruction of
"We Stand in Unity with the Halton Community" signs we created for pflag Halton, which had been displayed on the church's lawn.
As residents of Oakville, we are deeply concerned and upset over the growing bigotry and increasing hate crimes against our 2SLGBTQIA + community and welcoming allies, like St. Aidens.

A statement condemning "hate" is not enough.

It is time for the Town of Oakville and its residents to prove that this bigotry and hate against the
2SLGBTQIA+ community is not welcome in Oakville.
We call on our municipal leaders and elected officials to:

• Call out homophobia, transphobia and targeted attacks against the 2SLGBTQIA+ by name.
• Support local Pride events like Halton Pride Fest and the Halton Pride Parade
• Work with local community groups like and to fund, create & maintain 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming spaces, events and programs.

Just taking a moment today to share how much fun we had at Halton’s 1st Pride Fest this past weekend!

The drag acts were a blast, the band was incredible, and we loved getting to chat and visit with all the vendors!

Props to Pflag Halton and the entire events team for putting on this amazing event for our community! 👏

We are so grateful for the opportunity to be a small part of this!
