“I already have my logo in vector, so why is there still an artwork fee?”

This is a very fair question—and one I hear often.

Having your logo in vector format is extremely important because it means we don’t have to recreate or trace it every time. However, it doesn’t mean that the exact same file can simply be sent to production for every new product.

A logo that works perfectly on a business card may need to be prepared differently for a mug, tote bag, embroidered polo, banner or promotional product.

Every item has a different:

• Imprint size and shape
• Material and printable area
• Decoration or printing method
• Supplier template and production requirements

The artwork may need to be resized, repositioned, simplified, colour-separated or adjusted for embroidery. We also need to check line thickness, spacing and placement, then prepare the final production-ready file and proof.

So, you are not paying to have your logo designed again. You are paying for the work required to prepare it correctly for that specific product and production process.

The logo is the same. The preparation is not.

And honestly, proper artwork preparation can prevent a much more expensive printing mistake later. 😊

Do you have the original vector files of your logo? Keep them safe—you’ll need them every time your brand goes somewhere new!
