The following is a story from a follower who wishes to remain anonymous who wished to tell their story about their battle with drugs and mental health. Their story is we find helpful and a very positive message for anyone struggling. I got into a serious drug addiction while serving and I couldn't figure out to bring myself to ask for help, I tried to kill myself every day either with drugs or by various other attempts because I felt like I had no hope and I was terrified to reach out and get help because of the substance I was using it and how I was using it....

A snake at RMC (picture above left.) In the halls a sight many students have apparently been accustomed to seeing. (Above right) black mold on the ceiling presumably there for quite some time at RMC. Subpar living conditions in military shacks are something many troops are familiar with. However in some instances members are exposed to much lower standards of living. Here at the Hook Mafia we have been sent multiple pictures and videos that show just how bad the standard of living has dropped. Sadly it has been reported that these issues have been reported to the barrack wardens, a position that is held by commissioners in charge of making sure repairs and rules are followed in the barracks....

During a recent interview with an anonymous CAF soldier some interesting information was divulged.During Op reassurance soldiers come and go due to rotation, leave, or being sent to another country, Op Reassurance is a stability operation after the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation , and places Canadain and NATO countries in bordering countries to deter any aggressions to allied powers....

The Royal Canadian Legion, an organization that many of us have fond memories of from our youth now seems to have fallen into a shadow of its former self. More and more it seems to be a growing feeling amongst the veteran community, and recently the civilian populace, that the Legion no longer holds the same values it once did. A group that once proudly advertised that they supported veterans now seems to be more hiding under the blanket of claiming they’re run by veterans....

It has been sometime since anyone in the CAF has managed to get a kill since our Afghanistan mission came to a close. However we have been informed that on October 19th 2022 a member of 1 Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry managed to get the regiments first one. “Keepers of the Copyright” - As a symbol of remembrance you’d think the poppy would be public domain. Free for anyone to use. Well if you did. You thought wrong. The Royal Canadian Legion has claimed ownership of the poppy and have threatened legal action against numerous Canadian veterans and groups for using it as part of their logo. Intellectual property law firm Ridout and Maybee LLP, which represents the Legion, says the poppy is a registered trademark and can't be used for commercial or personal use unless there is prior approval....

The idea for the Afghan Memorial Flower was born from the community itself. Over the decades the Legion has continuously maligned our generation of current serving and recently released veterans. The Poppy, Canada and the Commonwealth's symbol for veterans and remembrance, has been weaponized by this organization due to its overbearing trademark laws on it. The Legion has been attacking Canadian veterans and veteran charities for using it in good stead and even claim it has copyright on the "act of Remembrance"....

At approximately 12:30pm May 19th 2022 an armoured UN vehicle with one military personal and 2 civilians on route from the Regional city of Timbuktu, Mali en route to the UN FOB would find themselves in a dire situation. A hostile vehicle with four - six armed hostiles armed with AK47's tried to overtake the UN armoured vehicle, resulting in hostile forces taking out the wheels on the vehicle....

HMCS Kingston’s wild ride home As some of you may recall it was reported by CTV news this past august, that it will be the first time Canadian frigates will be absent from Op Reassurance since 2014. As most sailors will be quick to tell you over a beer, or coffee, its because to put it in our colourful technical opinions, “they’re fu**ed bud.” Years of hard wear, long operations, and poor refits by civilian contractors who refuse to admit they’re not able to deliver, have left Canada’s last remaining “warships” in a state of constant work periods leaving us unable to fulfill our NATO commitments....
