Black Bodies: From exploitation to excellence! ✊🏿 📣 🎵
Black people are somewhat prevented from being successful in certain fields of endeavour because of entrenched institutional racism, and many black children gravitate in their imaginations to growing up to be successful athletes or musicians, two of the fields where they see a lot of famous role models.
Music is a field that is not drenched in racism as much other fields, people listen to music and songs that heal their heart and that is why the music industry is filled with the talented black music artists that are respected by whites and the whole world.
So, we need our creative and talented artists to come forward and show their talent to world so that the world can know that the more blacks will be degraded the stronger they will become!
We invite you to listen to our nation’s remarkably talented music artists this month of February to encourage your fellow black friends and join hands with people of similar interests to eradicate the black injustice for a better Ottawa!

Knowing the Past Opens the Door to the Future! ✊🏿 📣 🎵
Acknowledging the hard work of our ancestors is the best way to motivate the new black generation to bring in new ideas, talent and creativity that will show the world what blacks are made of. Media only portrays the poverty, theft and the bad side of blacks but we need to change this by bringing in new talents and encouraging their efforts to prove it to the society that we are not what you show us to be!
We should also use our remarkable history to prove to whites that blacks had played important roles in the creation of America and thereby deserve to be treated equally as citizens. By celebrating heroic black figures—be they inventors, entertainers, or soldiers, we hope to prove our worth, and by proving our worth, we believe that equality would soon follow.
We invite you to listen to our nation’s remarkably talented music artists this month of February to encourage your fellow black friends and join hands with people of similar interests to eradicate the black injustice for a better Ottawa!

It’s an opportunity to spotlight and celebrate the achievements that Black Americans have accomplished in this country, despite the history of racism and oppression. Most of all, it is a time to teach or remind ourselves of the black history that was never told or discussed in our education system due to racism.

Le français suivra!

The show must go on! ✊🏿 📣 🎵
Our event is an online-only festival this year, as it was last year. But, this year it will be produced and broadcast live from the professional venue named, the Saw gallery.

Due to the ongoing convoy, the Arts Court (the building in which the SAW is located) did not receive permission from the City of Ottawa to open until February 23rd. Therefore, our event has been rescheduled for February 24th, same time, same space.

We invite you to listen to this remarkable collection of music and poetry this month of February and encourage you to cultivate your own, informed, curious, and enlivened connection with the talented black composers, singers, rappers and their rich black traditions. We hope that you will find musical and poetic gems that you can enjoy for years to come!

We believe that Black people are musically talented. Their voices are special and sings passionately that touches your heart deeply. Most of world-famous songs are sang by American Black artists. Music has no doubt played a great role in lessening the intensity of racism in many parts of world. Be it black, white, Asian we all adore black music, songs, rapping etc. cause no matter how hard racists try they cannot silent the voice of heart, the words of heart.
So, we need to work hard and emerge as the new talented musicians that will change what is being practised for years. We have to stand for ourselves and for people like us.
