With the arrival and successful testing of my printer, I'm very happy to announce that ép printing & shipping services are back! I've just completed a move to Vancouver and am very happy to be resuming this popular service alongside print editions of our publications.

As with the previous moves, ép goes wherever I go, but our services always remain the same. Please be patient with me as I play catch up for the next couple of weeks 🙏

✨NEW EDITIONS! ✨

So happy to announce that we have two more editions available on the website, hot-off-the-presses, effective immediately.

Our second installment in the series, oboist and multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire Jonathan Werk has created a really clever and colourful oboe arrangement of three short piano works by French composer Mel Bonis. I had never heard of her before Jonathan brought this idea to me, and it’s easy to instantly fall in love with her evocative late Romantic style.

The newest addition to our very popular Slava Ukraini series, we’re proud to launch a new revised edition of Renata Sokachyk’s Three Pieces in F for bassoon and piano. Zachary Senick and I put in considerable work to make sure this beautiful new edition is legible and accessible for those seeking a metrical challenge! There are lots of creative time signatures, particularly in the third movement (19/16, anyone?)

Although we announced last week that printing is suspended for the next two months, I’m happy to say that these are still available in digital format or hard copy. Check them out now at editionsplamondon.com !

LAST CALL for printing! 🖨️

This is Taran here. I have some very exciting but short-notice life changes coming up in August. You’ll hear about that soon enough, but for now I want to give you as much notice as possible that ép printing services will be temporarily unavailable starting July 30. The pause will be for 7-8 weeks; I don’t have an exact resumption date, but it will be sometime in late September.

A full orchestra set printed and ready to be shipped off to Victoria Symphony ! 🎶

The composer Sam Kerr completed the engraving on this project himself, and his sharp eye for good graphic design shines through brilliantly 🤩 I consulted with him over the past week to ensure these parts would be up to MOLA standards before we shipped them off. These are printed on 10x13" with tape binding to allow them to sit flat on music stands.

Super clear parts = happy musicians = great music! It was a pleasure working with you as always Sam Kerr ☺️

It was a pleasure to give my talk “Music Preparation as a Career” to the NACO Mentorship participants this weekend. We covered the basics of what “music engraving” is, along with the many overlapping skills you need to be an effective music prep specialist. Thanks for having me National Arts Centre 🎵

Feeling very privileged to have been selected as the library participant for the National Arts Centre Orchestra Mentorship Program this year! I spent five weeks in March & April preparing parts for the program, and I'm back in June to make sure everything runs smoothly sheet-music-wise.

Orchestra library work and music prep have some overlap, but also a lot of differences. Working with two of the best music librarians in the country has been illuminating and humbling, and I'm grateful to be getting a more holistic perspective on the industry ✌️

🖨️🖨️ ÉP PRINTING SERVICES ARE BACK! 🖨️🖨️

After two months of shopping around and a weekend trip to Toronto to scout out some options, I’m very pleased to announce that our printing service is finally back and better than ever. I’ve acquired this Ricoh IM C3000 which is a huge upgrade over my previous rig, and it just arrived at ép HQ on Thursday. I’ve done a few tests to confirm that it is undamaged in transit and ready for some heavy-duty printing. 🥳

Just like before, we have Letter, 9x12”, 10x13”, Tabloid (11x17”), 12x18”, and other specialized music sizes available in white and “cream-coloured” off-white. We use a noticeably thicker 70 lb Text (105 gsm) paper, standard in music libraries, to reduce wear-and-tear and eliminate ink bleed-through.

You may also notice some minor updates to our website today as we’ve re-activated the Printing and Shipping page. I also spent some time updating the wording of some pages and replacing some of the older images. All print copies of our editions are once again available through the ép website (not just the copies I already had on hand). As always, our website remains fully French/English bilingual and completely human-written, no AI involved.

Looking forward to creating some beautiful sheet music to help you leave a lasting impression! 🎵
