Some acronyms for terms used in email authentication can be a mouth full but also there can become common confusion about what they mean. So here is an email authentication quick reference guide:

Sender Policy Framework (SPF)

- Determines if the sender is authentic and actually who they say they are by checking IP records.

DomainKeys Identified Email (DKIM)

- Uses public-key cryptography to keep messages safe and help determine if the sender is authentic and is who they say they are.

Domain-Based Message Authentication Reporting And Conforming (DMARC)

- Working closely with SPF and DKIM, DMARC will check records to ensure that sending domains belong to the businesses that are sending emails.

Brand Indicators For Message Identification (BIMI)

- A DNS record that contains a brand's logo, is a more recent method of authentication which helps determine if an email is safe to deliver to an inbox or not.
