🏈 Changes are coming to the Ottawa Redblacks.

Adrian Sciarra is stepping down as president of the Redblacks following the team’s 0-9 start to the CFL season, OSEG announced Monday.

OSEG has launched an immediate search for his replacement, with permanent executive leadership expected to be named by the end of 2026.

Sciarra joined OSEG in 2013 and became Redblacks president in 2023. He’ll remain with the organization as president and alternate governor of the Ottawa 67’s.

The Redblacks have made the playoffs just once in the past six seasons. Do you think this change will turn things around for the team? 🤔

Ottawa’s rainiest summer on record isn’t letting up just yet.

More showers are in the forecast today, with a risk of thunderstorms and a high of 22°C, feeling closer to 28°C with the humidex.

Ottawa Airport has recorded 512.7 mm of rain since June 1, making this the rainiest summer in the city’s history.

The good news? ☀️ Friday is shaping up to be sunny with a high of 26°C, before clouds and showers return for the weekend.

Here’s the week ahead:
🌧️ Wednesday: Showers, risk of thunderstorms — 22°C
🌤️ Thursday: Mix of sun and cloud — 23°C
☀️ Friday: Sunny — 26°C

Ottawa police are investigating more than 20 reports of an alleged downtown parking scam, with most appearing to involve the same individual.

One Ottawa man says he paid $3,900 for a year of parking at 400 Albert St. after finding a listing online, touring the space with a man who claimed to be the property manager and signing a contract. Another woman says she paid $3,850 for a parking spot at the same building and was able to use visitor parking for about a month before her access was cut off.

The building’s property management company says the man involved has no affiliation with the property and no authority to rent or sublet parking spaces. It is warning the public to arrange parking only through the building’s on-site management office and to be cautious of listings on online classifieds or social media.

Police are asking anyone who believes they have been defrauded to report it directly. Have you heard of this? 🤔

Ottawa drivers may want to fill up before prices climb Wednesday.

Regular gas is sitting around $1.71/L Tuesday, but is expected to jump 4¢ to 174.9¢/L Wednesday, according to Dan McTeague of Canadians for Affordable Energy. Prices could rise another 2–3¢ Thursday, while diesel is expected to jump 9¢ to about $2.33/L.

With prices continuing to climb, today could be the better day to hit the pump. 👀⛽️

Police have found the remains of a Smiths Falls-area man who disappeared nearly four years ago — marking the third set of human remains discovered on the same property.

The OPP says 44-year-old Lawrence Bertrim was found on a Kelly Jordan Road property on Aug. 6 and has since been identified. Bertrim was last seen in downtown Smiths Falls on Sept. 30, 2022.

The discovery follows the remains of Robert Lambert, 75, found on the property in July, and Robbie Thompson, 34, whose remains were discovered there last October. Four people have been charged in connection with Thompson’s death, including three accused of first-degree murder.

Police say the causes of death for Bertrim and Lambert have not been determined, and no charges have been laid in connection with their deaths. The investigation remains active, with officers continuing to search the property. 😳‼️

O-Train Line 1 riders faced delays of up to 30 minutes Monday morning after a westbound train stopped between Lees and uOttawa stations around 8 a.m. and was unable to regain power.

OC Transpo operated single-track service between Hurdman and uOttawa while crews transferred passengers and worked to remove the stopped train. Full service resumed around 9:30 a.m.

The disruption comes just days after another Line 1 issue caused service interruptions between St. Laurent and Blair stations. 👀

Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help identifying three people connected to an assault in the ByWard Market.

Police say the incident happened on July 11 near York Street and ByWard Market Square, leaving the victim with a broken arm. Photos of the three individuals have been released, with police saying one is believed to have been involved in the assault while the other two may have information about the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Central Investigations Section at 613-236-1222, ext. 5166. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppers.ca. ‼️

Ottawa mayor Mark Sutcliffe is promising cheaper transit if re-elected this fall. 🚌

His new transit platform would cut the adult monthly OC Transpo pass from $138.50 to $95, introduce a $10 daily fare cap, extend the transfer window to two hours and bring back express routes.

Sutcliffe is also pledging to push forward with LRT expansion to Kanata, Stittsville and Barrhaven, purchase 200 more buses and hire 250 new drivers and mechanics.

But not everyone is on board — rival candidates are calling the fare cut financially reckless and questioning Sutcliffe’s reliance on a proposed $4-billion provincial LRT upload investment that has yet to be finalized.

Free Dental Care Available at Ottawa Mission Clinic

Accessing a dentist can be difficult and expensive, but the Ottawa Mission Dymon Health Clinic is helping make dental care more accessible for people experiencing homelessness.

The clinic provides free emergency, preventative and restorative dental services, thanks to donations and a team of around 50 volunteer dentists, hygienists and other dental professionals.

Last year alone, the clinic provided care to nearly 400 patients helping address dental pain while also improving confidence and overall well-being. We need more good like this in our city ❤️
