Je reviens tout juste de quelques jours à Vancouver.

Au début de ma carrière, j’y ai passé beaucoup de temps, c’était un peu comme retrouver une deuxième maison.

Après une longue absence, la ville a changé, mais j’ai retrouvé certains de mes endroits préférés, ainsi que de vieux amis.

Nous étions en ville pour un documentaire avec à la rencontre des artistes, des innovateurs et des athlètes qui donnent son âme à un lieu. Toutes les villes en ont. Vancouver en compte plus que la plupart.

C’était formidable de rencontrer de nouvelles personnes passionnantes - et de revoir de vieux amis !

Feelin’ Vangroovy - Just back from a few days in Vancouver.

Early in my career I spent a lot of time there, so a little bit like visiting a second home.

Going back after a long stretch away, the city’s changed, but some of my favourite haunts are still around, as well as some old friends.

We were in town for a documentary with finding the artists, innovators, and athletes who give a place its soul. Every city has them. Vancouver has more than most.

Great to meet some amazing new subjects — and great to see some old friends.

Enfin arrivé au Yukon! 🇨🇦
En tant que mixeur de son de production, j’ai eu l’opportunité incroyable de rejoindre une équipe de tournage documentaire à Whitehorse pour aider à capturer les histoires des gens du Nord.
Whitehorse m’a époustouflé. Une petite ville avec un esprit robuste et industrieux, des restaurants fantastiques, et une scène artistique florissante à laquelle je ne m’attendais pas.
Mais comme pour chaque tournage, ce que je retiendrai le plus, c’est les gens. Une équipe absolument fantastique et des personnes remarquables que nous avons eu le privilège de rencontrer en chemin.
Une autre province ou territoire coché sur ma liste, alors que je parcours chaque province et territoire du Canada. Les Territoires du Nord-Ouest, c’est votre tour. 🎙️🏔️

Finally made it to the Yukon! 🇨🇦
As a production sound mixer, I had the incredible opportunity to join a documentary crew in Whitehorse to help capture the stories of people in the North.
Whitehorse blew me away. A small town with a hearty, industrious spirit, fantastic restaurants, and a thriving arts scene that I wasn’t expecting.
But like every shoot, what I’ll take away most is the people. An absolutely fantastic crew and the remarkable folks we had the privilege of meeting along the way.
One more territory checked off as I work my way through every province and territory in Canada. The Northwest Territories, you’re next. 🎙️🏔️

Always great to run into old comrades on set.
Alex and I spent a couple of seasons up North on the wonderful Qanurli Crew - popped onto a set here in Ottawa and there he was.
Also - big ups to department gang for being so welcoming to our EPK crew!

Some projects just fill your cup, and it’s not everyday I get to see (hear?) my work on the big screen.

I had the privilege of working as a production sound mixer on a documentary about Elder Wisdom for Schlegel Villages with the incredible women at and some wonderful images captured by Dom Lannos.

So grateful to have had the opportunity to help record the wisdom and share the stories of our inspiring elder doc subjects.
Grateful for this team, this project, and every elder who shared their story, and for Villages having created this amazing project.

De retour dans le nord la semaine dernière, j’ai filmé un nouvel épisode de la série SOMA de Slalom pour TFO – une série sur les artistes, les innovateurs et les athlètes de l’Ontario – cette fois-ci, un focus sur le Nord ontarien.

Travailler dans ces communautés est une expérience unique. Un talent immense. Des idées novatrices. Un cœur généreux.

C’était formidable de retrouver de vieux amis que je n’avais pas vus depuis longtemps – ces personnes qui vous rappellent pourquoi vous avez commencé tout ça – et tout aussi stimulant de collaborer avec de nouveaux talents qui apportent un regard neuf et une réelle valeur ajoutée.

Créer du beau travail avec des gens formidables est toujours un plaisir. Je suis reconnaissant pour les rires, le travail d’équipe et l’objectif commun de raconter des histoires qui comptent vraiment.

Et, mon Dieu! Ces tartelettes au beurre sont absolument délicieuses!

Back up north last week, filming another chapter of Slalom’s series SOMA for TFO- a series on artists, innovators, and athletes across Ontario — this time shining a light on Northern Ontario.

There’s something special about working in these communities. Big talent. Big ideas. Big heart.
It was great reconnecting with old friends I haven’t seen in a while — the kind of people who remind you why you started doing this in the first place — and just as energizing to collaborate with new faces bringing fresh perspective and serious talent to the table.

Making good work with good people never gets old. Grateful for the laughs, the teamwork, and the shared goal of telling stories that actually matter.

And, oh, man. Are the butter tarts ever good!

Immensely proud to have been a part of the 10th anniversary project of The Green Bench with Schlegel Villages and SandBay Entertainment Inc. and very gratifying to see the beautiful movie poster by John Godfrey.

I’ve always been very lucky to work with amazing teams, but this was a first for me - seeing my sound credit right on the poster! Big thanks to Sarah Fodey, Amanda Barakat, and Han Nguyen at SandBay Entertainment Inc. for the honour and collaboration.

Can't wait to see the premiere!

Une magnifique soirée à Orléans pour l’avant-première d’« Et Maintenant » d’ , un film de .forgues_beau.tie avec et , auquel j’ai eu le plaisir de contribuer au mixage son.

Comme on dit souvent, « il faut apprendre comme si on devait vivre éternellement », et j’ai profité de cette production pour perfectionner mes compétences en enregistrement musical. Inspiré par le talentueux , j’ai enregistré des pistes utilisables directement sur le plateau. On dirait que certaines pistes ont été réalisées en studio pour les prises de son plus importantes, tandis que d’autres, enregistrées en direct, ont servi pour certaines performances acoustiques. Je suis ravi du résultat, avec Chris Beer, mon perchiste diplômé de .tara , à mes côtés.

Un grand merci à Jocelyn et à ATO Media de m’avoir permis de participer à ce projet et d’offrir aux professionnels un espace où créer des contenus si touchants et artistiques ! 🎬

A lovely evening in Orléans watching the premiere of ATO Media‘s “Et Maintenant” - a film by Jocelyn Forgues starring Pierre Paul Alain and Debbie Lynch White that I was able to help out with in the production sound mixing department.

I always like to say, “learn like you will live forever” and I endeavoured to improve my music recoding skills on this production, and inspired by the amazing - to record usable music tracks on set. It sounds as though there was were some studio tracks used for larger setups, with some live recorded tracks used for some of the acoustic music performances. Very happy with the recordings I achieved with my grad boom op Chris Beer by my side.

Many thanks to Jocelyn and ATO Media for bringing me along - and for giving professionals the space to create so much heartfelt and artful content on their sets! 🎬
