I look at a lot of Ottawa trade business websites.
And almost every contact form has the same problem.
Too many fields.
Name, email, phone, address, project type, timeline, budget, how did you hear about us, describe your project in detail.
A homeowner with a leaky roof at 10pm is not filling that out.
They wanted to say “I need help” and get a response.
You gave them homework.
Here’s what works.
Name.
Phone number or email.
And one open box that says “How can we help?”
Three fields.
That’s it.
Every extra field you add drops the number of people who finish.
I’ve seen businesses double their form submissions just by cutting fields in half.
Go look at your contact form right now.
Count the fields.
If it’s more than four, you’re losing people.
Message me if you want help simplifying it.
