I look at a lot of Ottawa trade business websites.

And almost every contact form has the same problem.

Too many fields.

Name, email, phone, address, project type, timeline, budget, how did you hear about us, describe your project in detail.

A homeowner with a leaky roof at 10pm is not filling that out.

They wanted to say “I need help” and get a response.

You gave them homework.

Here’s what works.

Name.

Phone number or email.

And one open box that says “How can we help?”

Three fields.

That’s it.

Every extra field you add drops the number of people who finish.

I’ve seen businesses double their form submissions just by cutting fields in half.

Go look at your contact form right now.

Count the fields.

If it’s more than four, you’re losing people.

Message me if you want help simplifying it.

Truck wraps are great. I get the appeal. You’re driving around Ottawa all day, might as well advertise.

But here’s what actually happens when someone sees your truck.

They don’t write down the phone number.

They Google your name.

And if your Google profile has three photos from 2021, no posts, and a generic description that says “serving the Ottawa area with quality service” you just wasted that truck wrap.

Your Google Business Profile is the first thing people see after they hear about you.

It’s free to update. It takes less time than washing the truck. Fresh photos.

A current description with the neighborhoods you actually serve.

A post every couple of weeks showing recent work. That’s it.

Your truck gets people curious.

Your Google profile closes the deal.

Message me if you want help getting yours right.

Before a homeowner picks up the phone, they’ve already made up their mind.

Here’s what they checked.

First, your Google reviews. Not just the star rating. They scroll to the recent ones.
If your last review is from November, they wonder if you’re still around.

Second, your photos. They want to see work that looks like their neighbourhood. Jobs in Ottawa. Real houses. Real results. Not stock images of a guy in a hard hat.

Third, your website on their phone. Can they find your number? Can they request a quote? Can they do it fast?

If any of that takes more than ten seconds, they move on.

Three things. All free to fix. All within your control right now before the summer rush hits.

Want to know how you score on all three? Message me.

I’ll check for free and tell you exactly where you stand.

Google lets you post updates directly to your Business Profile. Like a mini social media feed right inside your Google listing.

Almost nobody in Ottawa uses it.

Which means if you do, you stand out immediately. Google sees the activity and rewards it.

Customers see fresh content and trust it. Your competitors don’t even know the feature exists.

Here’s what to post.
A photo of a finished job with a one-line caption. That’s it. “Just finished a deck build in Barrhaven. Booking summer projects now.” Done.

Do that once a week and you’re ahead of ninety percent of your local competition.

It’s free.It takes five minutes. And it tells Google your business is alive and active.

Try it today. Post one photo with one sentence.

If you’re not sure how, message me and I’ll walk you through it.

Every spring it’s the same story. Some landscapers are fully booked by May. Others are still waiting for the phone to ring in June.

The difference isn’t talent. It’s timing.

The ones who win the summer started showing up online weeks ago. Fresh Google posts. Updated photos of last year’s best work. A site that lets people request a quote without calling.

The ones who wait until they’re slow to think about marketing? They’re already behind.

If you’re a seasonal business in Ottawa, your online season starts now. Not when the snow melts. Not when you’re ready. When the homeowner starts planning.

That’s happening right now on their couch at 9pm.

If you haven’t touched your Google profile since last fall, you’re already late. Message me and I’ll show you what to fix first.

In a few weeks, every homeowner in Ottawa is going to start their outdoor project list.

Decks. Landscaping. Roofing. Driveways. AC installs.

When they Google you, your website should feel like you’re ready for the rush.

But most trade business sites right now still show last fall’s content.

Winter hours. Old photos. Maybe a holiday message from December still sitting there.

That tells a customer you’re not paying attention.

And if you’re not paying attention to your own site, they wonder if you’ll pay attention to their job.

Here’s a free fix you can do tonight.

Update your homepage photo to something current.

Change your hours to summer.

Add one line that says you’re booking for the season.

Takes ten minutes. Signals you’re open, active, and ready.

Do it tonight. Then message me if you want to know what else needs updating.

Six months is a long time in Google’s eyes.

If your last GBP post, photo, or update was before the snow melted, your profile is going stale.

Google sees that.

Your competitors’ fresh profiles get priority.

And the Map Pack — those top three results everyone clicks — starts showing them instead of you.

You could have 400 reviews.

Doesn’t matter if your profile looks abandoned.

A homeowner searching “plumber Ottawa” tonight will see the business that posted a finished job photo yesterday before they see your ghost-town profile.

The fix isn’t complicated.

Fresh photos. A post every couple of weeks. Updated hours. That’s it.

But first you need to see the gap.

That’s what my audit shows you — in five minutes, in plain English.

If it’s been a while since you touched your GBP, message me.

I’ll show you what you’re missing.

Here’s what you get.

I look at four things: your website on mobile, your Google Business Profile, your booking flow, and your review momentum. I rate each one and tell you exactly where the gaps are.

It takes about thirty minutes. You get a straightforward breakdown no jargon, no fluff, no pitch for a retainer you don’t need.

I built this because I got tired of watching great Ottawa businesses lose leads to competitors who aren’t half as good but are twice as easy to book online.

If you’ve spent the last month reading these posts and nodding along, this is the step. One message. I’ll do the rest.

Last call for this month’s free spots.

Message me “AUDIT” and let’s find out where your leads are going.

You probably know someone. A contractor, a plumber, an electrician, a landscaper. Does incredible work. Great reputation. Word of mouth keeps them busy.

But their website looks like 2015. Their Google profile is collecting dust. They’ve never thought about online booking because “the phone works fine.”

They’re not failing. They’re just leaving leads on the table every single night.

And they don’t know it because they’re too busy doing the actual work.

I get it. That’s most of Ottawa’s best trade businesses.

I’m running free digital audits this month. Four areas, plain English, no sales pitch. Just a clear picture of where they stand and what to fix.

If someone came to mind while you read this - tag them or send them this post. Might be the most useful thing anyone does for their business this month.

Tag an Ottawa business owner who needs to see this.

I’ve been talking about digital audits all month. The gaps. The fixes. The stuff agencies never tell you.

Now I’m putting it into action.

I’m running five free audits this month for Ottawa businesses trades, service companies, local shops.

I’ll look at your website, your Google Business Profile, your booking flow, and your review momentum.

You’ll get a plain-English breakdown of what’s working, what’s not, and what to fix first.

No pitch. No package. No contract.

Just a clear picture of where you stand online and where you’re leaking leads.

Five spots. First come, first served.
