I love that my nine-year-old daughter is so incredibly creative. She spends a lot of her online time creating different characters in an app, so I asked her to make me.

For our latest adventure on our Small Town Fall Tour, we went exploring in Durham.

This past weekend was wet and cold so hiking with the kids was out of the question. We had to find something to do that was safe for our unvaccinated young kids, preferably not busy, and fun.

Fortunately our area is not short on things to do and we decided to visit Dragonfly Alpaca Ranch in Durham, a beautiful fall drive 40 mins south of Owen Sound.

Owner and Alpaca-guru Randy was escorting the females (alpacas, lol) under a shelter for our visit - we’d booked a free visit by giving him a call. (A torrential downpour ended as we arrived but the visit is under cover if the weather is iffy.)

Randy is incredibly knowledgeable and generously shared so much interesting information about these intelligent animals (some of the females have learned to open the catches on their stall doors).

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends 🇨🇦

Thanksgiving is always a day of reflection for me. I’m so thankful that my family and I have the privilege of living in the incredible country.

I’m so grateful for the friends we’ve made, and the people we’ve met and known as part of our journey.

I’m so thankful that I have the opportunity to do the work I love to do, for people I love working with.

As a former teacher, I know how difficult teaching can be. It’s emotionally and physically draining, but the kids’ energy and engagement is the magic that fuels teachers 🌈

I can only imagine how incredibly difficult it’s been for teachers over the past 18 months, having to pivot to a completely different way of not only delivering lessons, but communicating with their students.

Thank you for all that you’ve done for our children to keep their love of learning alive.

We appreciate you every single day 💜

We haven’t been living in Owen Sound for very long but from the first time we saw the town, it’s been home 🏡

I’m on a mission this fall to explore the heck out of this beautiful area and today was our first outing. It still feels weird going out just for fun, we’ve been socially distancing for so long.

Feeling weird quickly disappeared when we saw where is nestled. If incredible views are your thing, you might like it there.

My husband and I shared a flipping delicious pizza and some good wine. This is a definite must on your 🍂🍁

Sometimes, things happen for no rhyme or reason, and we just have to roll with the punches, dust ourselves off, and get back on the horse! (how many more idioms could I pack into that sentence?)

When things happen for no rhyme or reason, as they are sure to do, we need to be resilient, learn from the setbacks, the challenges, and the failures. Because these are the things that lead to growth.

Take a moment to appreciate the MONUMENTAL upheaval and collective trauma we’ve all experienced over the past 18 months. And we’re still here despite it all – that’s resilience.

This is Bodhi. He’s my buddy so I though it would be a great opportunity to introduce him, if you haven’t met.

He’s 5 months old and super smart. He loves to run, swim, jump on the trampoline, and eat anything at all: mud, duck p**p, mushrooms and soggy grass are firm favorites!

When Bodhi grows up he wants to paddle board, kayak, and eat more dirt.
