Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never came home, and recognize the lasting impact these experiences continue to have on Indigenous families, communities, and generations.

As individuals and as an organization, we know that reconciliation is not a single day. It is an ongoing commitment to listen, learn, build relationships, and take meaningful action.

Today, we take time to reflect, to remember, and to acknowledge the resilience, strength, and contributions of our First Nations, Inuit, and Métis friends across Canada.

🧡 Every Child Matters.

A lapsed monthly donor is not just another lapsed donor.

Consider two supporters:

One made a $25 gift three years ago.
Another gave $25 every month for four years before their monthly giving stopped.

Both might now appear as "lapsed" in your database, but their relationships with your organization are very different.

The monthly donor made a sustained commitment to your mission. They already know your organization, chose to support it regularly and may still care deeply about the work.

That history deserves a different strategy.

Our latest article looks at the opportunity hiding in lapsed monthly donor files, including recovery versus reactivation, segmentation, timing and why the first goal should be reconnection.

You have four donor segments sitting in your database and enough budget to prioritize one.

Which is the hardest group to decide what to do with next?

A. New one-time donors
Convert? Steward? Wait?

B. Lapsed monthly donors
Reactivate? When? With what approach?

C. Long-lapsed donors
How far back is still worth pursuing?

D. Active monthly donors
Upgrade? Steward? Leave a good thing alone?

We'd love to hear your answers why in the comments.
There may not be one right answer. That's what makes donor strategy interesting.

Who would you prioritize?

Donor A
Last gift: $250
Gifts in the past 3 years: 1

Donor B
Last gift: $75
Gifts in the past 3 years: 6

If we segment by gift amount alone, Donor A may immediately stand out.
But Donor B has chosen to support the organization six separate times.
That frequency tells us something important about the relationship.

Now add recency, campaign history, giving type and previous responses, and we start developing a much more useful picture of both donors.

There isn't necessarily one "better" donor here. There may simply be two different opportunities requiring two different conversations.

Smarter segmentation isn't always about finding your highest-value donors. Sometimes it's about understanding the behaviour behind the gifts.

Your next fundraising opportunity might already be in your donor database. 📊

Every gift, missed payment, upgrade, cancellation and campaign response tells part of a donor’s story. When you look at those pieces together, they can help answer an important question:

Who should we be talking to next—and why?

From monthly giving and lapsed donor reactivation to upgrades, stewardship and legacy engagement, better segmentation can help make every conversation more relevant.

Our latest blog explores how to look beyond gift amount and uncover the opportunities hiding in the donor data you already have.

Canada Day is a time to reflect, acknowledge, and come together.

While July 1 is a day of national pride for many, we also recognize that it holds complex meaning, particularly for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities.

Today, we pause to honour Indigenous histories, reflect on our shared responsibility in the ongoing journey of truth and reconciliation, and encourage continued listening, learning, and action.

As a proudly Canadian company, Keys Marketing Group is grateful to work alongside incredible nonprofit and charitable organizations from coast to coast to coast. We are honoured to support the meaningful work you do each day to strengthen communities, create connection, and drive positive change.

Wishing everyone a thoughtful, meaningful, and safe Canada Day. ❤️🍁

As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, it’s a moment to reflect on the many ways people contribute to causes they care about.

To every volunteer giving their time, energy, and care, THANK YOU. Your impact reaches further than you may ever see.

And to those who support these efforts through giving, you help make that impact possible.

If there’s a cause close to your heart, now is always a good time to get involved—whether by volunteering, donating, or simply learning more.

Because change happens when people show up—in whatever way they can.

This week is National Volunteer Week, and we’re taking a moment to recognize the people behind every mission. 💚

Every day, volunteers show up for causes they believe in—giving their time, energy, and compassion to support communities, advocate for change, and provide care where it’s needed most.

At Keys Marketing Group, we see firsthand how volunteers bring impact to life. From supporting individuals and families, to advocating for human rights, to helping build stronger communities—volunteers are at the heart of it all.

What’s especially powerful is how volunteers and donors work together. One gives time, the other provides resources—and together, they create lasting change.

To every volunteer supporting the missions of the organizations we’re proud to work with: thank you. Your impact reaches farther than you may ever see.
