COURSE OPTIONS:

Course #1 “Elevate The Song”
Perfect for beginners to novice writers who want to become a better lyricist and melody maker. This is the pre-requisite course to taking Level Up and getting the most out of upcoming workshops. You will study themes, complex song components, song critiquing, collaboration, and learn how to get the MOST out of your song. You will not just learn basics, but you will learn EXPERT crafts to develop your songwriting at an expediated rate. This course is designed to make you a better writer through critique and craft.
*Great for singer-songwriters, lyricists, instrumentalists, and beginners.

Course #2 “Level Up”
Acceptance by audition or if you have taken any pre-requisite courses. This course is best for artists or established/well practiced songwriters looking to reignite their spark, learn new crafts, develop their unique voices as writers/artists and create authentic, moving compositions. You will learn to craft songs with compelling stories, themes and emotions designed to engage listeners and represent you as a songwriter/artist.

I spent Sunday at the Regent Theatre Picton recording for their upcoming Made in The County podcast.
The episode is called After The Storm.
Myself, and other artists will be sharing tales of resilience.

Participants were: Tony Forbes, Krista Dalby, Tess Girard, Rihanna Harris of Shatterbox Theatre , Shauna Haugin and myself! I got to share an exclusive look into the battles of my life and share a brand new song.

✨Artist Instructor Highlight: Megan Hutton ✨

In the lead-up to our inaugural session of Community Arts Classes at the County Arts Lab, we are taking a moment to highlight and thank our amazing Artist Instructors for playing such an integral role in this exciting journey!

Megan Hutton is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, actor, choreographer, and graduate of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. She is a driving force in the Prince Edward County music scene - as lead singer-songwriter in Instant Rivalry, radio host on 99.3 County FM, and music teacher, mentor, and coach in a variety of settings from classrooms, community halls, recording studios to board rooms and theatre stages.

We couldn't be happier to have Megan and Elevate the Song as part of our County Arts Lab launch!

Want to learn how to write a song, or take your songwriting skills to the next level? Registration is now OPEN for a 6-week Songwriting Workshop with Megan Hutton at the County Arts Lab! 📣
🎼 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗴 will take place on Thursday afternoons from March 3rd - April 7th. Through a combination of formal instruction, engaging exercises, collaborative songwriting circles, and customized feedback, participants will:
✔️ Gain and practice fundamental songwriting skills
✔️ Learn how to navigate various stages and challenges in the songwriting process - from demo recording and copyrighting to writer's block and more
✔️ Build a songwriting practice that works for their unique style and voice
🎼They will leave with new connections, energy, and focus - and a new song! This course is for anyone aged 15+ - including beginner to professional writers and musicians. A background in music or creative writing is helpful but not required.

I have been hard at work with 99.3 County FM organizing events for their 7th anniversary!
We have planned eight days of events that focus on what makes this radio station so special, events that are accessible and fun for the community and as encompassing as this great radio station and the community it serves.
Please check out all events at 993countyfm.ca and consider coming out to support 99.3 and celebrate seven years of community radio.

Two events I am heavily involved with are the kick off PARTY IN THE PARK on October 9th with Cue the Funk and the HOME GROWN Concert on October 13th.
