Well folks I need to be realistic

Between the super long cold spring, a slug invasion I can’t get ahead of, and building our house, the idea of doing my CSA program this year doesn’t seem feasible. I will try to come to some farmers markets and will post on this page if I have excess of something for pick up.

Well folks, this cold wet spring means that not much is growing in the garden. It’s going to be a short CSA season this year. If you are interested in getting a produce box delivered every two weeks please send me an email to the gmail address.

It’s been quiet on the page but lots has been happening. Seed order went in back in January as did goat manure to prep the gardens. I bought some new laying hens as well as chicks to be ready for summer laying. My milking goat also had babies this spring so goat cheese in the future!
We are also building a house this summer so have lots going on.
I’m trying to decide if I will sell at the farmers market this summer or do the CSA program again.
To gauge interest could you comment here if you wanted to do the CSA program again?

Spaghetti squash in your box this week. Leave it for a week on your counter to let it ripen a bit more. Here’s a recipe my family loves that uses spaghetti squash:

Stuffed with crumbled Italian sausage and cheese (and a little tomato sauce—yes, taking another liberty here), you have yourself a beautiful mess of Italian ingredients.

Beets and celery in this weeks box. I worked 5 summers in Latvia and grew accustomed to cold beet soup on hot summer days. Here’s my favourite recipe for borscht:

A must try this Ukrainian borscht recipe with beef for those of you who love a good piece of tender meat in your spoon. Serve with dollop of sour cream.
