Sometimes there are too many acronyms in the marketing world to keep up with 😅 Picking a CMS, or a Content Management System, is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make when starting a new business, or bringing your existing business online. Whether you just want a website to attract clients, or you want to sell and ship products, we’ll break down a few of the most common CMS options for you:
WordPress is a great CMS. With plugins galore and excellent SEO management, there’s not much you can’t do with WordPress. Landing pages, full websites, even e-commerce capabilities, WordPress does it all under one roof - but not without a bit of a learning curve! If you’re wanting every option in a CMS, WordPress is the way to go.
Shopify has a simple drag and drop website builder, with powerful e-commerce capabilities in the back end, some of the largest retailers in the world use Shopify to sell their products. Shopify is definitely the best choice for selling, shipping, and stocking products, both online and even in brick and mortar stores.
Squarespace also has a drag and drop website builder, which is great for someone just starting out. The pieces snap to the page, so that no elements are ever out of line. If you need to get your site up quickly, Squarespace is great. They even has a fantastic optional (at an additional cost) scheduler tool called Acuity, if taking appointments with clients is a large part of your business.
Wix has a drag and drop website builder, but is a bit more customizable than Squarespace. Rather than snapping to a location, you’re able to place elements wherever you want on the page. However, this does mean checking different screen sizes to ensure everything looks cohesive.
Which CMS do you think is the least frustrating to deal with? 😉
