The 2026 Qualicum Beach election candidates list has now been finalized with a Declaration of Election by Voting, following the close of the candidate withdrawal period on September 18, 2026.

The provincial government announced today that it is pausing the planned expansion of PST to professional services, which was set to take effect October 1. This is welcome news for our members.

What this means?
The pause is being made through a temporary regulation, and the delay is tied to the ongoing trade war. Many of you told us about added costs, red tape and the impact on local businesses, and thank you to everyone who shared their story.

What happens next?
A pause is not a permanent decision. Together with the BC Chamber of Commerce, we will keep advocating for the expansion to be eliminated and for a move toward a made-in-B.C. value added tax.
