One of Steveston's biggest patios sat mostly empty all spring, and now it has a new life.

Wharf & Flame Smokehouse + Lounge opened in early May at 120-4020 Bayview Street, taking over the former Good Co. Bar unit in Steveston Village.

It is a locally owned, family run spot built around Texas-style barbecue smoked in house, not a franchise.

The draw is one of the largest, most talked-about waterfront patios in Richmond, and it is dog friendly, which makes it an easy sunny-afternoon call.

There is a reason this corner sat dark for a couple of months before the smoke started rolling again.
