Three years ago, “SEO” meant ranking on Google.

Now it also means getting recommended by ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini- tools your customers are already using to find businesses like yours.

The catch? AI doesn’t pull from your website the way Google does. It pulls from everywhere you’ve been mentioned. Reviews, articles, directories, podcast features, even Reddit threads.

If your name only lives on your own website, you’re invisible to the tools doing the recommending now.

Are you also optimizing for AI?

Go to Google right now and search the exact problem your customer has.

If your site doesn’t show up on page one, Google doesn’t think you solve it.

That’s not a design issue. That’s a signals issue.

The fix isn’t a redesign. It’s a rebuild of how Google reads you.

Comment your website URL below and I’ll break down the first thing I’d fix - some I’ll reply to here, others I’ll feature in a Reel for the full audit treatment.

Free exposure, free feedback.

WordPress powers nearly half the internet, and there's a reason for that.

It's the only platform built to give you full control over how your site is structured, what search engines see, and how AI tools interpret your content. And when the rules change, you can adapt.

Is it perfect? No. It can be slow if it's built badly. It needs proper setup, regular updates, and ongoing maintenance. And to get the real SEO benefits, you need to know what you're doing, or work with someone who does. But that's an ex*****on problem, not a platform problem.

WordPress is the platform of choice for business owners who want to grow and dominate their niche. 🎯

GoDaddy is great for one thing: buying your domain name. A lot of people use the website builder too, mostly because it’s convenient after purchasing their web address. And it works…to a point.

You can get a site live, and Google can find it, but that's where it ends. You don’t get much control over how your content is organized, which makes it harder for search engines and AI tools to understand your site.

So, your website exists, but it’s not really working for you. It’s fine as a digital business card, but if you want to grow or bring in traffic, you’ll hit a ceiling.

The verdict: Use GoDaddy for your domain. Build your site somewhere else.

When it comes to selling products online, Shopify is one of the strongest platforms out there. It’s built specifically for e-commerce, making it easy to manage products, process orders, and run an online store.

It also covers the SEO basics and has a massive app ecosystem that lets you expand functionality as your store grows. Another advantage? Built-in product schema, which helps Google display product details like price and availability directly in search results.

That said, Shopify isn’t always the best fit for content-first websites. If your strategy relies heavily on blog posts and educational content, other platforms may offer more flexibility.

Squarespace is the platform people choose when they want a website that looks good.

The templates are clean, modern, mobile-friendly, and cover all the SEO basics. You can launch an effective site for a portfolio or small business in a weekend.

But here’s the catch: Squarespace is built for design, not long-term growth.

If your goal is to rank for competitive keywords, scale content, get found by AI tools, or turn your website into a real lead generator, you’ll likely hit a ceiling.

So, is it a bad platform? Not at all. It’s a great starting point when design matters most. Just make sure you understand the limitations before you commit.

Watch out for the next episode, where we're covering Shopify. 👀

Picture this: A homeowner in Niagara gets a referral for a roofing contractor. They type the business name into their browser. The website loads slowly, the text is tiny, there’s no clear phone number, and the contact form is frustrating to use. They hit back and call the next company in the search results.

This happens to local businesses more often than you think - underperforming websites quietly push potential customers away every single week.

Read our guide to learn more about the most common website issues costing businesses real leads - and for a practical checklist to help you spot problems on your own site. ⬇️

Welcome to the first episode of our Website Builder Breakdown Series - starting with Wix.

Wix is one of the easiest website builders out there. Drag. Drop. Done.

But as your business grows, you may find the platform doesn’t always grow with you. It runs on heavier code, which can make it harder for AI tools to properly read and interpret your site - and that matters more than ever as more people use AI to search and discover businesses.

Wix is great for launching fast. Just make sure you understand the tradeoffs if you’re building for long-term growth.

Next episode, we’re breaking down Squarespace. 👀
