Father’s Day is coming and truthfully it feels a little different for me this year. ♡

I lost my dad earlier this year, and if you knew him… you knew he could talk to absolutely anyone.

Honestly, I come by it naturally.

We both loved marketing, business, people, stories, and connection. We could spend hours talking about why businesses work, why people buy from people they trust, and how the smallest interactions can completely change someone’s day.

One of my favourite things about him was how he would say “howdy” to basically every single person he walked past.
On the street.
In elevators.
In stores.
Everywhere.

Partly because he genuinely loved people… and partly because he wanted to see if he could make someone smile or start a conversation.

And if there’s one thing else you needed to know about my dad — the man LOVED donuts. 🍩

So this Father’s Day, I want to do something that feels a little like my dad.

I’ll be giving away a gift certificate for a dozen donuts from a LOCAL donut shop of your choice. ♡

As many of you know, I help support the Candlelake Fun Run. Every year the board reviews applications from groups who have submitted applications for help through funding. The money given to the various groups is from the proceeds of the run, golf tournament, silent auction and personal fundraising of those who attend the run.

You can check out the website www.candlelakefunrun.ca to see a list of all the help given to Saskatchewan groups for mental health initiatives.

As a business owner you wear a lot of hats! And then there's the marketing hats!

The social media hat.
The content creation hat.
The "I should probably post something today" hat.

And while you’re busy trying to do all of that, you're not always doing the things you actually love doing in your business.

That’s one of my favourite parts of what I do.

Taking the things off someone's plate that make them sigh every time they think about them.

The captions.
The content planning.
The posting.
The "what do I even say this week?" moments.

So you can spend more time doing what you're actually good at.

Whether that's helping clients, building something amazing, spending time with family, or simply having one less thing to think about at the end of the day.

Because sometimes the best gift isn't adding something to your life.

It's taking something off your plate. ♡ If this is you, let's talk about unloading those hats.

To most people I’ve always been Calle or Cal.
To others… I’m known as Hurricane.

And honestly, if you know me, it’s probably because I can talk.
Like REALLY talk. 😅

So I guess it makes sense that now I get paid to do it — just in a different way. These days most of my talking happens through captions, content, blogs, strategy sessions, and voice notes on a crazy variety of topics because somehow I ended up with the coolest mix of clients trusting me with their marketing.

And I don’t take that lightly.

I believe in honest marketing.
Showing people who the business really is.
The services they offer.
The humans behind it.

No pretending to be something you’re not.
No weird fake internet persona.
No trying to sound “corporate.”

I expect the same from the businesses I work with too.

Most days you’ll find me with Daisy on my lap, my laptop open with 25+ tabs going, my phone halfway through another idea, open on the desktop (yep… still using one 😂), an audiobook or playlist playing in the background, a giant glass of water beside me, coffee in what my mom calls an “abnormally large mug,” and a protein smoothie because apparently I need more protein in my life.

It’s messy.
Creative.
A little chaotic sometimes.

But I genuinely believe the best connections happen when people simply show up as themselves.

And the biggest thing I’ve learned?
Good things take time.

Keep showing up.
Keep creating.
Don’t give up before the magic happens. ♡

Last year, one of my favourite parts of the Candle Lake Fun Run was watching the kids’ faces light up when they got to pick out their stuffies. Honestly… it was pure magic. 🧸

And this year?
We’re going even bigger. ♡

Cindy and Yogi found their forever homes with two lucky kids last year, and this year Daphne, Diana, and Danie are ready to join in on all the fun — along with SO many more stuffies waiting to be adopted.

Every child who stops by the Hurricane Hole will also be entered to win a Fuddruckers gift card for mini golf and supper for them + 3 friends in YXE! Winner will be announced in the main tent following the run during the prizes.

I’m already so excited to see all the familiar little faces again and meet so many new ones too.

Because community matters.
Giving back matters.
And supporting mental health in Saskatchewan matters. ♡
