Client Spotlight: Norheim Equipment Co.

Norheim Ranching partnered with Magpie Group to evolve its brand. What began as a side venture for their cow-calf ranch more than 15 years ago has expanded into three Saskatchewan locations, a team, extensive product lines, and a parts and service division. The name Norheim Ranching had outgrown its roots and no longer reflected what customers were coming to them for.

Norheim Equipment Co.’s identity marks a new chapter featuring a bold, gritty logo and a black-and-red palette that nods to the original brand. The tagline ‘Tough Built In’ reflects the determination Lee and Chelsea needed to establish a business from the ground up while farming, raising a family and working side by side. It also pays respect to their farm customers across Western Canada who raise livestock in extreme conditions.

Congratulations to Lee and Chelsea Norheim and the team at Norheim Equipment Co. on this next stage!

Our team member, Alessya Lautner, Manager of Strategy and Marketing had some thoughts this week about scaling campaigns.

"I've noticed amongst marketers (and myself) the pressure to continue adopting automation and platforms for faster campaigns.

I like having these conversations and hearing who’s using what. But I think we sometimes skip over the key question...how do we keep up the speed without losing the mark? Is our critical thinking keeping up with the volume? What can we actually afford to sacrifice for higher output?

Last week I was stopped in my tracks by a few campaigns that just hit. You can tell. From the copy to the designer that the team took time to really execute their creative process. That’s becoming a bit of a guiding principle for me. It's not wasting time. I’m making sure everything aligns with the who and why's."

Our team is growing! At the centre of everything we do, we keep one simple truth in mind: it’s humans on the other side of every decision.

We talk about audiences, personas and segments, but what really matters is how we listen, respect experience and create value before asking for anything in return from our audiences.

That mindset is what guides how we build our team, our strategies, and our relationships. Everything else naturally follows.

I think sometimes when other agencies ask what Magpie is about, you can almost see them thinking: “Ag and Ag Tech… really?”

But what looks like niche to some? That’s our playground.

We are wrapped in science, curiosity and the drive to see our clients hit their goals and reach the next level. Because the work our clients do? It’s genuinely important. And honestly, it’s kind of awesome for our province.

So yeah. We get to do work we’re passionate about, with clients we genuinely admire.

It starts by talking to leadership and teams to understand the company’s true position, its clients, and the market it serves. Next comes research to uncover gaps or opportunities.

From there, concise language is crafted for internal and external messaging, ensuring clarity and focus.

The payoff? Alignment across strategy, communication, and action, so everyone knows the company’s story and can move forward with confidence.
