Here's an update on water levels and road closures in Strathcona County.

Here's an update on water levels and road closures in Strathcona County.

Water levels have gone down, but road closures and infrastructure issues remain 🚧 If a road is closed, it’s closed for your safety! All roads must be inspected before they are reopened. Even after water recedes, hazards may still exist.

With more rain in the forecast, staff will be working through the weekend to respond and manage any new issues.

Here are a few things you can do to prepare for more rainfall:
- Check sump pumps
- Clean eavestroughs and downspouts
- Clean and exercise your weeping tile flapper
- Ensure drainage swales (gently rounded ditches along property lines) are clear so water can flow freely

City of Edmonton has used a water usage warning as a result of the heavy rains. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19EFPeDAHA/

This alert has been cancelled: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14eoC6djqhd/

This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. The City of Edmonton is issuing a water supply alert.

This alert is in effect for the entire City of Edmonton.

Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has pushed the region's stormwater system to capacity, with localized flooding and backups being reported in neighbouring communities. If the stormwater system continues to operate over-capacity, flooding and sewer backups will continue to increase.

Avoid unnecessary indoor water use. Limit showers and baths. Delay laundry and dishwasher use. Ensure sump pumps and downspouts are functioning properly to direct water away from homes. For more information, check https://epcor.com/ca/en/ab/edmonton.html
