Holy Cow Communication Design

Holy Cow Communication Design Well-loved people building the most-loved brands on Vancouver Island. These people are our friends - make that clients. Holy Cow is a full service firm. Holy Cow!

We love what we do, every single day, surrounded by a bunch of people who love to do what they do, too. All for the purpose of making other people really happy, people who are as passionate about providing the best for their customers as we are. (Really though, they've become our friends.) We provide graphic design, advertising, copywriting, branding, marketing and media expertise. We started Holy

Cow in 1997 because we knew there was another way of serving our clients other than the traditional ad agency way. Our way is relaxed, friendly. Clients drop in. Sometimes fly in. We love it. We can handle it. We have more than 50 years of award-winning graphic design experience to draw upon.

Wonderful to see Deborah and the whole Cowichan District Hospital Foundation team at their open house and BBQ yesterday! 🌭☀️ It was great to view the floor plans for the much-anticipated new hospital and chat about the critical access it will bring to the Cowichan community. A big thanks to the CDHF team for the burgers, sweet treats, and an afternoon of warm island sunshine.

Who remembers Dave? He was the good’est boy at the The Sidney Pier Hotel & Spa.
We had the privilege to work with the Pier team for a number of years prior to their opening. We designed promotional pieces for the hotel and spa. Anything with Dave was always extra fun!
On the back of this postcard reads: ‘Dave is a Black Labrador Retriever, and the Sidney Pier Hotel & Spa Canine Ambassador, who missed being a BC Guide Dog by a snout. Now, he brings his skills and passions to the talented Sidney Pier team. He’s highly trained at lounging in the lobby, walking hotel guests, and committed to his goal of making every guest smile.’
We’d sometimes see Dave leave the hotel on his own. We’d call the front desk to let them know Dave was on a walk-about in the park. Do you have a memory of Dave you’d like to share?

Hot Off the Press 🗞️ The Sidney BIA has just released its first-ever Business in Sidney Annual Snapshot Report!

This report provides a clear picture of Sidney’s business landscape, tracking economic trends, foot traffic, and business sentiment to help shape a stronger, more vibrant local economy.

Here’s a glimpse at what we found:

✨ Foot traffic is thriving! Sidney saw nearly 2 million visitors in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

✨ Businesses are growing! Over 55% of businesses reported revenue increases, showing strong economic resilience.

✨ Sidney’s entrepreneurial spirit is strong! In 2024, 111 new businesses opened, bringing fresh energy and innovation to the community.

This is just the beginning! We’ll be using this report year after year to track progress and keep Sidney’s business community thriving.

Grab your copy online (find the link below) or pick up a hard copy at the Sidney Information Centre (2281 Beacon Ave, open daily from 10 am to 4 pm).

Have questions or want to discuss the findings? Connect with Natalie Bobrowich, Sidney BIA Business Development Manager, at [email protected].

Logo Refresh Spotlight: Cottons and Blues

Before: A classic logo that’s seen decades of success.
After: A modern coastal-inspired design with bold blues and clean, contemporary typography that reflects the relaxed seaside lifestyle Cottons & Blues is known for.

The Cottons and Blues rebrand was all about celebrating their long-standing connection to the community while embracing a fresh perspective for the future. From denim-friendly styles (sizes 0-20) to coastal casual dresses and hemming services, their offerings continue to serve all ages, shapes, and sizes with pride.

Designing for a brand with such deep community roots was an honour—Cottons and Blues, here’s to the next 45 years!
