Let’s beat $56k 👟👟 Register today!

The Squamish Terry Fox Run route is a gentle 4 km out-and-back along the paved trail from the Municipal Campground to the Adventure Centre. (Option to lap it twice and make it an 8k!)
All runners, walkers, bikes, scooters and strollers are all welcome.
🐾 Dogs are also welcome! If your dog is comfortable with crowds and on a leash, you are more than welcome to bring them along.

Last year, Squamish raised over $62,000 for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation - $56,000 of that came from our own community run! This year, organizers of the Squamish Terry Fox Run hope more than 500 community members will join the run.

North America’s largest GranFondo takes place on Saturday, September 12th.
Registration for the RBC GranFondo Whistler reached capacity with over 5,500 cyclists riding from Vancouver to Whistler this Saturday.

There will be impacts to transit routes and traffic patterns along Highway 99.

Here is a message from the District of Squamish:

⚠️🚵 On Saturday, September 12, from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., traffic signals will be flashing, and traffic movement to and from the east side of Highway 99 will be restricted or closed. Motorists are advised to plan their travel well in advance, drive with caution, and follow posted signage.

🚏Gran Fondo will impact Squamish Transit routes between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Full highway closures will occur between 8:30 am and 10:30 am. During the closures, expect the following:

➡️ Route 1 Brackendale will travel between Downtown and Brackendale along Government Road without crossing the Highway.
➡️ Route 2 Highlands will only provide service between the Highlands and Garibaldi Village
➡️ Route 3 Valleycliffe will not be in service between 8-11 a.m.

Outside the full closure time, buses will attempt to complete their regular routes but may be delayed.

Squamish Search and Rescue have shared a map that illustrates the extensive search for local hiker, Stanislav Volo. It gives perspective on what a search of this scale looks like, combining ground and air tracks from the search for Stanislav.

“What you’re seeing is the footprint of a massive, multi-agency operation — ground teams, aircraft, drones and crews working across steep, complex terrain and an enormous search area.

Areas were searched multiple times, from different directions and using different resources, as teams worked systematically to cover and continually reassess the search area.”

After 6 days, an injuired Stanislav was located, walking on the Indian Arm FSR (Forest Service Road) and was met by SAR members.

Huge gratitude to our local Squamish SAR and Squamish RCMP, North Shore Rescue, neighbouring SAR teams from Pemberton, Whistler and Chilliwack, ground crews, volunteers and all other agencies involved in the search for Stanislav.

STANISLAV HAS BEEN FOUND !!

Update from Squamish Search and Rescue
“After several long days of searching, we are incredibly relieved to share that Stanislav has been found alive and is safe.

Stanislav walked himself out and was located on the Indian Arm FSR.

We know so many people across Squamish, the Sea to Sky, and beyond have been following his story, sharing our posts, sending messages, and hoping alongside his family.

Today, we get to share the news we’ve all been waiting for.

A heartfelt thank you to every SAR team, first responder, volunteers and everyone else who played a part in the search — and to everyone who shared, supported, and kept hope.

We are so thankful.”

A member of Stanislav Volo’s family also shared a message;
“To every single SAR member who searched for my brother, the incredible Sea To Sky Gondola crew, the RCMP, and everyone who shared his face, sent us messages, prayed, hoped and carried us throught these 6 days - thank you from the deepest parts of our hearts.”

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM Squamish Search and Rescue

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION REGARDING THE HABRICH SEARCH

We are aware that requests for members of the public to head to the Habrich Ridge area tomorrow to assist with the search have been widely shared.

We understand and deeply appreciate the desire to help bring Stas home. However, please do not independently enter the Habrich search area tomorrow.

This remains an active SAR operation and we are following up on all leads. We have multiple professional teams working in coordinated search areas by ground and by air. Uncoordinated members of the public entering the area can create additional safety risks, interfere with established search operations, and potentially divert resources away from the search.

As per our update yesterday, we have not put out a formal request for a public search party. If additional assistance is required, it will be coordinated through the appropriate SAR channels.
