I noticed a retractable banner promoting a business at the bank today. At first glance, it includes the essential elements: an image, a logo, a business name, a description of services, a discount, and a call to action. However, aside from several design principles that appear to have been overlooked, I was puzzled by the presence of Facebook and Instagram icons without any accompanying handles or links. How is a customer supposed to engage with the business on social media if they don’t know where to find it?

It’s a bit like being invited to a party but not being told the address. What is the fix? Place a blank white sticker over the icons.

This tiny bird is a master architect with a clever defense plan.

It weaves a hanging, pouch-shaped nest with a hidden side entrance, then seals it shut when leaving to fool predators. Even snakes struggle to find their way in—a brilliant blend of camouflage and construction.

This is a beautifully artistic design, but one thing that drives me crazy every time I see it is the placement of trees in proximity to man-made structures. These people do not understand that a Tree grows in dimension over time. While it may look aesthetically pleasing to plant a small tree close to a building, when it fully grows, you will have to cut its branches. And then you come back to the idea of what the hell the architect was thinking, placing that tree in that very same spot.

Misaligned Audience Message

The phrase “Canada is not for sale” sounds like a defensive message aimed at outsiders—perhaps Americans or foreign buyers. But this framing can feel misplaced, even hollow, when your audience is Canadian. Most Canadian customers aren’t questioning Canada’s sovereignty—they just want a good deal on a reliable car.

Unintended Implication:
By contrasting Canada with "cars for sale," the slogan could accidentally hint at selling non-Canadian or imported vehicles, potentially even American ones. That undermines any attempt to promote “buying Canadian” or support a locally owned business.

Tone and Clarity:
It's trying to be clever or political, but it doesn’t clearly connect to the dealership’s strengths, like customer service, local ownership, or value. It risks coming off as gimmicky or vague rather than persuasive.
