I have been invited to be in the Surrey Public Library’s, Authors Among Us, program. I will be presenting my first book, SURPRISE, at 6:00 pm on October 19, 2022 at the Semiamhoo branch. My other Storybook quilts will be available as well, MILLICENT MARVEL & BENTLEY BUNNY and MILLICENT MARVEL & BENTLEY BUNNY BY THE SALISH SEA. I hope to see you there. I was thrilled to present my newest picture book, Millicent Marvel & Bentley Bunny By the Salish Sea, to a group of children involved in the BC Summer Reading Program at the library in Ocean Park, Surrey, BC. I got a great reception. One young listener alerted me to the fact that otters eat sea urchins. Two of the quilt blocks show an otter just about to land in a pile of sea urchins.

I had the opportunity to display pieces of my 1st Millicent Marvel book at Ocean Park Library in Surrey to help them advertise their summer reading program. My branch created the awesome quilt on the right as part of the project.

Texture created with free-motion quilting on blue fabric.

I have added all the blue panels to the 34 blocks of my newest Millicent Marvel creation. Now I am free-motion quilting them to add texture and interest.

The light blue fabric will be the base for the printing in my next Millicent Marvel book. I ran into problems on some panels when the fabrics underneath showed through. To address this I place a layer of fine white cotton underneath. You can see the difference between the top right and bottom right.
