Job Description:
John’s Neon Signs Ltd a full-service sign shop since 1956 is looking for a full time, reliable and experienced Graphic Designer that can combine skill and technology to produce computer generated artwork in a variety of media and substrates for all types of signage. We are looking for someone that can keep up with the challenges of a fast-paced work environment, familiar with hand tools, power tools and comfortable working at heights as this position includes taking the design from concept to production and installation. Individual must be well organized, ability to multitask and ensure production meet high standards of quality and safety.
Key Requirements
• Creative and innovative design skills and experience with design software: Adobe Creative Suite, Corel Draw
• Experience in operating sign production equipment: wide format printers, laminators, application tables, electronic shears, hand tools and power tools
• Experience working with a variety of materials such as aluminum, plastic, plexiglass, lexan, glass, metals, coroplast
• Experience in or willingness to learn installing vehicle wraps, wall and window graphics, installing tint, frost and safety films.
• Organizational skills, ability multitask, work under pressure and excellent time management for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, suppliers and team members
• Great interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a friendly and positive relationship with clients, suppliers and team members
• Provide in person service to walk in clients
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Detail oriented and must maintain a high level of accuracy to meet quality control standards
• Perform large and small print production and finishing on signs, banners, vehicles, walls, billboards etc, including laminating, mounting to substrate, trimming and cutting.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and surveys to meet design and production standards according to specifications
• Comfortable working at heights off ladders, scissor lifts and boom as required and trained
• Ensure safe work practices followed and adhered to
• Off site installation services as required
• Must be willing to travel, including overnight stays from time to time
• Flexible working hours, will be required to work out of normal business hours from time to time
• Must have required PPE – safety shoes/boots
• Valid class G driver’s licence
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift heavy material and signage equipment (50lbs)
• Involves working in various weather conditions
• Comfortable working at heights, stand, bend, for extended periods
