Before Graze was official, it was just Kyle and I figuring out what creative content we could make together.

This tennis court shoot was one of those early experiments. Editorial style, strong natural light, me in front of the camera (for once). We were just starting to find our rhythm as a team.

Looking back, this shoot is pretty clearly where it all began. And, since it’s still one of our favourites, we thought we’d get a liiiiittle bit nostalgic and bring it back to the feed. 🤭🎾

Here’s something most social media managers won’t tell you: your follower count doesn’t pay your bills.

Your email list does.

Social media is incredible for discovery: it gets people into your world. But it’s a one-way broadcast.

You can’t embed a reservation link in a post (yet).
You can’t track who clicked what.
You can’t send a Tuesday afternoon promo and drive traffic to your store by dinner.

Email can do all of that.

After a decade working in digital marketing with food, beverage, and retail/CPG brands, the brands that grow consistently aren’t just the ones with the best content. They’re the ones who use social to build an audience and email to convert them.

Social builds awareness. Email builds revenue. You need both.

A lot of brands hire a photographer and wonder why their content still isn’t converting.

Here’s why: Pretty photos that get two likes aren’t a content problem. They’re a strategy problem.

We’ve worked with brands that have been burned by this. They hired someone great with a camera, the photos looked beautiful, and then... nothing. The post goes up, a few people tap the heart, and that’s the end of it. No traffic. No sales. No idea why it didn’t land.

Here’s what most photographers won’t tell you: they’re not supposed to know. That’s not the job. The job is the shot - the light, the composition, the edit.

And if that’s all you’re paying for, that’s all you’re getting.

The problem is that “good content” and “good photography” aren’t the same thing.

Good content knows where it lives in your funnel. It knows whether it’s there to build awareness or close a sale. It knows what your audience needs to see right now and why. It knows whether this frame belongs on your website, in a paid ad, or as a Reel hook.

A photographer doesn’t make those decisions, and shouldn’t have to.

What ends up happening is brands spend months posting beautiful, purposeless content, wondering why nothing is moving. Then they question the budget. Then they cut it. And the real cost isn’t the photographer’s invoice, it’s the months of content that worked really hard to get you absolutely nowhere.

We’re not a photography studio that learned strategy. We’re not a social media agency that picked up a camera. We do both, because we’ve always believed they’re the same thing. Every frame we build has a reason to exist beyond looking good.

That’s the difference between content that gets saved and content that gets people through the door.

If your feed looks great but isn’t doing anything for your business, that’s the exact conversation we want to have.

Sometimes the best creative projects start with just being a genuine fan. 🍒

Last week we showed you the process of our 24-hour spec shoot with . Here’s how it turned out.

Beach towel. Sunblock. Playing cards. Italian aperitivo and snacks. Cherry red pops and golden hour light. The whole beachy European fantasy, no passport required.

We developed this Green Goddess Dressing for using their Raw Organic Perfect Food Greens Powder... and honestly, it’s the kind of dressing I wish I always had on hand.

It’s creamy, really easy to throw together, and makes enough to use throughout the week. Perfect for this time of year when the weather’s warming up and you want something fresh and nourishing without a lot of effort.

I started working with Garden of Life back when I was still personal training and nutrition coaching as a genuine fan of their products (long before any creative partnership came into the picture).
