If your product isn’t selling, try again.

Because “I posted it once and nobody bought it” is not a marketing strategy.

Most people probably didn’t even see it. And the ones who did may not have understood why they needed it yet.

As a maker, your job is not just to make the product. Your job is also to market it, talk about it, show it in use, explain the value and actually sell it.

Post it again. Change the hook. Improve the photos. Show a different angle. Tell people why it matters.

A good product can still flop when the marketing is lazy. There, I said it.

Motherhood changes you.

Your priorities shift. Your time is no longer entirely your own. You become softer in some ways, stronger in others, and suddenly very good at functioning on snacks and interrupted thoughts.

I don’t think we go back to who we were before becoming mothers.

We rebuild.

And for me, running a business has been a huge part of that.

It has given me something that is mine. A creative outlet, a sense of purpose, an income and proof that I can build something meaningful while raising the person who matters most to me.

I’m not the same woman I was before motherhood.

I’m more resilient, more resourceful and much less afraid to figure things out as I go.

You don’t reclaim who you were.

You build a more badass version. 🤍

Testing a new file? You don’t need to commit to the full production process right away.

Skip the engrave. Skip the scoring. Just run the cut first to make sure every piece actually fits together.

Then leave the outer cut area in your laser so you can place the finished piece back into the exact same spot and run the detailed portions with perfect placement.

Could I have designed and cut one tiny test section instead? Sure.

But that would have required me to stop and design a tiny test section… and somehow that felt like more work than just cutting the whole thing. 😂

Test the fit first. Add the pretty details after. Save yourself from engraving an entire project that was never going to assemble properly.

Every week I convince myself I’m going to get so much done.

Then I remember my daughter is only in camp for three weeks out of her ten-week summer break... and the rest of the time she’s home with me. Which also means we’re probably not even home most days because I actually want to enjoy summer with her.

Meanwhile, my brain has about 324 new product ideas, content to create, and approximately two uninterrupted hours a week to make any of it happen. 😂

It’s a constant tug-of-war between wanting to grow this business I’ve worked so hard to build and wanting to soak up these summers while she’s still excited to spend them with me.

If you are also in this stage of life/business, you aren’t alone.

I cannot teach you how to run a multi-million dollar business.

Mostly because I do not run a multi-million dollar business.

Groundbreaking honesty on the internet, I know.

What I *can* talk about is building a business that is profitable, sustainable, and actually fits into your life.

A business that helps pay the bills.
A business that gives you more flexibility.
A business that lets you pick your kid up from school, take a random Tuesday off, or not completely lose your mind every Q4.

Because not everyone wants an empire.

Some of us want enough.

Enough income to feel secure.
Enough space to enjoy our families.
Enough flexibility to not feel trapped.
Enough profit to make the work worth it.
Enough time to still have a life outside of orders, content, and customer messages.

That is still a wildly valid goal.

You do not need to chase someone else’s version of success just because the internet made it sound shiny.

A business that supports your life instead of swallowing it whole?

That is the goal.
