HER2-positive breast cancer can spread to the brain as a secondary tumor in roughly 30–50% of advanced cases. These metastases are particularly difficult to treat, due to the blood-brain barrier which prevents many cancer drugs from reaching the brain. Scientists are investigating how new cancer drugs are managing to cross the blood-brain barrier to reach target cancer cells.

Voltage-gated sodium (Nav) channels transmit pain signals along nerve fibers in the peripheral nervous system. Because Nav channels are outside of the brain and spinal cord, they are being explored as potential targets for a new class of non-opioid pain medicine. Drugs designed to target Nav channels prevent them from opening, thereby stopping pain signals from being transmitted.

Our Head of Art and Design Joyce Hui is celebrating her 15th year at AXS Studio! During her tenure at AXS, Joyce has art directed countless projects and has had a huge impact on our team and work.
