Meet the new wave at the lab!

Three new talented members have just joined our Creative team – and they are very creative, indeed.

Scott Couture, Creative Director – a Toronto creative with over 20 years of experience leading national and global campaigns for clients like Nissan, Mattamy Homes, Enwave Energy, Telus, BMW, Toyota, Lexus, and McDonald’s — across digital, experiential, and traditional platforms. He's passionate about creative leadership, mentoring teams, and building ideas that make brands not just seen, but felt.

Nathan Miller, Design Director – an award-winning Design Director with over a decade of experience shaping identities, campaigns, and brand worlds. His practice brings together strategic thinking and art direction, informed by a background in photography, motion, and digital design. Outside the studio, he rides bikes, builds custom furniture, and maintains a financially questionable commitment to analog photography.

Hyeri Jeong, Jr. Graphic Designer – a Graphic Design graduate fresh out of OCAD University, where she developed a passion for branding, visual identity, and packaging design. Hyeri enjoys exploring Toronto and finding inspiration through everyday experiences.

theturnlab goes hiking!

This week, our staff got together to participate in the Great Canadian Hike powered by Trans Canada Trail. We went for an afternoon hike along the Toronto Beaches waterfront on the Martin Goodman Trail and collectively logged 75km.

The Great Canadian Hike isn’t just a fantastic opportunity to spend time with your team and get active, but it’s also the best way to help support one of our greatest national treasures, the Trans Canada Trail.

And there’s still time to join!

Until September 30th, you can log your kilometres and raise donations for the cause; all proceeds go directly toward maintaining and protecting the trail.

Launched nationally this month, the new campaign reinforces Mattamy’s role as the homebuilder that helps people move confidently toward what’s next.

Ever consider what makes a good brief? It’s more than just filling in the blanks.

For our Senior Strategist Jasjiv, it’s about finding the right balance between delivering the client’s ask, successful research and accessibility throughout the project.

“A good brief distils the client ask into an easy-to-navigate document, whilst keeping the mandatories,” says Jasjiv. “It needs to have enough firepower to make an impact, like evidence-based research, insight, audience targeting and references. But not too much, where it becomes overwhelming. The key is finding the right balance of information.

Jasjiv adds that accountability plays a big part of brief writing too, “A good brief also keeps everyone honest about the deliverables, timings, budget – it serves as the North Star for everyone involved.”
