One of the teams behind is opening a new Spanish restaurant just steps away. 👀🇪🇸

Grant Van Gameren, Hailey Burke and Zach Smith are opening Casa Rubia on September 24, taking over the former Martine’s Wine Bar space on Palmerston Ave, right behind Bar Raval.

While Bar Raval is known for its standing-room energy and pintxos, Casa Rubia is taking things in a more sit-down direction, with a full-service dining room designed by Future Studios and a menu inspired by Northern Spain.

Expect large-format Rubia Gallega beef cooked over a wood fire, whole roasted turbot and a martini made with Manzanilla sherry and Atlantic sea salt. 🥩🍸

Even the name has a story behind it, with Casa Rubia nodding to both Galicia’s Rubia Gallega cattle and Atlantic folklore.

Toronto is about to get seriously dill-irious. 🥒👀

Picklefest Toronto is taking over on October 3 and 4 for its fourth year, and this time there’s even more pickle chaos to get into.

More than 20 new vendors are joining the festival, serving up samples and creative pickle dishes ranging from pickles on a stick to a pickle banana split. There will also be DJs, live bands, entertainment and a Kids Zone throughout the weekend. 🎶🥒

And there are a few experiences you’ll only find at the Toronto festival this year. Test your stomach in the NEW Brine Drinking Competition, get some ink with live tattooing, or try the “Pickle Yourself” digital experience and see what you’d look like as a pickle. 👀

If you make your own pickles, you can also enter the returning Show Us Your Pickle home-pickling competition, with $1,000 up for grabs. 🏆

Looking to move, recharge and reset for fall? 💪✨

The annual 10XTO Fitness Festival is returning to Hotel X Toronto on September 13 for a morning packed with workouts, recovery and wellness experiences.

The three-hour festival brings together Toronto’s fitness community for instructor-led workouts designed to challenge strength, mobility and endurance, with mindful recovery sessions and wellness activations mixed in throughout the morning.

New this year, you can also kick things off with an optional 3K waterfront run at 8:30 AM before the main festival begins. 🏃‍♀️

Between workouts, explore activations from fitness and lifestyle brands, try refreshments and functional nutrition products, pick up samples and take home a few surprises.

Toronto is getting an $8,888 dining experience. 👀🍽️

Lai Wah Heen is marking the season with The Treasure of Fortune, an extravagant five-course culinary experience created by Executive Chef Heyden Sin.

At the centre of the experience is the Supreme Eight-Treasure Gourd-Shaped Goose, a premium whole goose that is completely deboned by hand while keeping the skin intact, stuffed with eight rare “treasures” from the mountains and sea, shaped into a traditional húlú bottle gourd and prepared through several cooking techniques.

Inside, you’ll find ingredients including Tibetan cordyceps sinensis, Italian white truffle, wild Yunnan black tiger paw mushroom, Tianshan snow lotus seed, Japanese dried abalone, aged fish maw, wild Galapagos spiky sea cucumber and imperial scallop with coral-grown grouper skin.

The five-course experience also comes with a 500-gram tin of caviar. And if $8,888 isn’t quite extravagant enough, guests can add a bottle of 1989 Château Margaux for another $3,888. 🍷✨

The dish brings together inspiration from three Chinese culinary traditions, including Eight-Treasure Duck, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and a Guangdong pigeon preparation that releases hot broth when opened.

Even the $8,888 price has meaning. The number eight is associated with prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture, while the goose is shaped into a húlú, a symbol associated with prosperity, longevity, protection and good fortune.

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival is bringing three days of huge laughs to Mississauga this September 🤣🏙️

From September 11-13, Erindale Park will transform into an outdoor comedy destination with a stacked lineup featuring John Mulaney, Adam Ray as Dr. Phil, Jeff Arcuri, Jordan Jensen, Hasan Minhaj, Ronny Chieng, Ms. Pat and more!
