Guyana Photo Recap:
Georgetown National Park 🌿

Sometimes the most important photographs from an event aren’t of the people on stage.

At Georgetown National Park, I found myself photographing manatees, wildlife and the surrounding landscape—moments that showed another side of the experience.

That’s the value of event photography: capturing the moments people might not think to document, but will want to remember.

The atmosphere. The environment. The unexpected.

My mother has taken another trip around the sun and I want to wish her the Happiest of days and the best year yet!

Fun fact, the first photo was taken yesterday on her birthday and she was very annoyed with her child shoving a camera 📸 in her face the whole time 🫣😂

Guyana Recap — Behind the Lens. 🇬🇾

Guyana gave me a lot to photograph.

But more importantly, it gave me a lot to think about.

Behind the lens, I’m learning that the photograph is only the beginning of the story.

The first photo in blue is of a local social media maven capturing the thing we were all entranced watching- the Surinamese Fire Dancers.

The second photo is one of hundreds of photos taken of the Surinamese Fire ceremony, which was unbelievable and had us all captivated.

The third image- St George’s Cathedral was the view I woke up to every morning. At one point, this was the tallest structure in South America- in the 18th century.

A few weeks ago, Switzerland was not on my radar.

No plans. No bookings. No “big trip” energy.

And then… one opportunity turned into a flight, a camera in my hand, and me standing in the Alley of Flags like—wait… how did I get here?

This is your reminder (and honestly, mine too):

You don’t always see the full path before it unfolds.
Sometimes you just say yes to the next thing…
and suddenly you’re documenting moments that matter on a global stage.

I came here to work.
To document.
To capture stories that needed to be seen.

But I also came here to witness life in a new way.

Some of these photos are from work.
Some are just me paying attention.

This year, OYA BLACK ARTS held their annual OYA x LIME for black filmmakers mixer during TIFF and they trusted me to capture their important moments.

Moments like these are records.

They document growth, connection, celebration, and presence.
