Jackie Friedman, Nexion President, to Retire Next Spring

The longtime president of Nexion Canada is set to retire next spring.

Jackie Friedman, who has been with the company for 22 years, announced at Nexion's annual conference that she'll be stepping down.

Friedman, who began her career as a front-line travel agent and travel agency manager in Toronto, followed by 15 years in various roles with Sabre, joined Nexion in 2004, becoming president in 2007.

New Sleeper, Dome and Dining Cars Coming to Via Rail with $4.7B Investment

Canada's most iconic rail journeys are getting a Canadian upgrade - offering a more reliable choice for the advisors who book them.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Thursday that, amid an ongoing trade war with the US, the federal government is spending more than $4.7 billion for Via Rail to acquire 313 new passenger rail cars, made in Ontario and Quebec by Alstom Canada.

West Nile Cases Grow Across Europe, Deaths Reported

Europe seeing an alarming surge in virus cases, and now, invasive capable of carrying Zika are tracking in the UK.

Several popular destinations are reporting rising infection rates, including Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, North Macedonia, Romania, and Spain. Greek health officials say the virus has caused 24 deaths and 290 cases, while the Netherlands has confirmed one death and nine cases.

European health authorities say there's been a sharp rise in West Nile virus cases, prompting fresh warnings for Canadian travel advisors. Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, North Macedonia, Romania and Spain have all logged increasing infections, with Greek officials reporting 24 deaths and 290 cases.
