Literacy is Liberation.

For too long, we were erased from history.
Now, I use language to flip the script and reclaim our story.
I work with words to build worlds.
To reimagine what was stolen.
To reclaim what was erased.

Words are spells.
Thoughts are magic.
What you say to yourself shapes your reality.

There was a time when they called me a Lion
it felt like I was handed a box full of darkness with no instructions
Until I learned, this too was a gift.

On the page, my name is el-duh-lee-yon.
A name I carry because of colonization.
Not my ancestral name.
That name, I am still uncovering.

They called me “the Lion.”
Sometimes to shame me.
Sometimes to tame me.
Rarely to raise me.
Until I learned to use it
to elevate me.

I am the L.Y.O.N. that learned how to write, so they hunter’s story would’nt be the only version told
I think like a LYON and use language to exemplify how to lift yourself over negativity with the words.

Come for the words.
