I’m creating a case study for a project I wrapped up a few weeks ago. I helped an engineering firm who specializes in drainage eliminate the following problems in their business:

-They were embarrassed of their on-line presence
-They had outgrown their current identity
-They were feeling like others might think they had grown stale compared to their competitors
-Their identity couldn’t be applied to the platforms they wanted to be active on
-They had started to lose sight of why they do what they do, and got caught up in the everyday tasks

We started this project with the process that I use for every engagement:

Phase 1: Strategy
a. Discovery Call

The discovery call is a quick 20-30 minute phone call where I learned more about what they do, why they do it, and what kind of problems they are facing within their business. We didn’t dive into any details about the problems as I use this phase to get to know them, and also to see if I might be a good fit to help.

b. Strategy Session

If they are experiencing the problems that I specialize in solving, we then spend 45-60 minutes in a strategy session. This is where we uncover the roots of their problems and map out an actionable plan for how they should go about solving them.

Phase 2: Implementation
c. Brand Identity Design

The Peralta team had asked me to implement the strategy that we created together. This is the phase where we spent a number of weeks working through the entire re-branding process. From logo design to a complete brand guidelines booklet, we created a visual version of their new brand strategy to represent them as they scale their business in the coming years.

The results of this project were:

-An on-line presence that they can be proud of
-A brand identity that reflects the quality of their reputation and professionalism
-A refreshed on-line presence compared to their competitors
-A new identity that is versatile for any use, and can grow along with them
-A re-lit spark of passion and drive for what they do

Starting October 4th, I’ll be accepting 5 free strategy sessions at the end of every month so that I can help steer more people in the right direction of solving their problems, wether I’m at maximum capacity or not.

During these strategy sessions, we will spend 45 minutes to dig deep into the challenges you're currently facing within your sustainability business. We will uncover the roots of these problems, and create an actionable plan for you to begin solving them.

Stay tuned for the info on how to apply for a free session!

Hey sustainability professionals!

I just had a conversation with a professional in our space who has solutions to addressing excessive fossil fuel burning in energy conservation logic.

Something very interesting came up during our chat that I wanted to address, as I haven't come across this problem yet in other businesses.

He is a business owner and is struggling to explain what he does to his prospective clients.

Even though his services yield more energy savings for his clients over the years following his work, plus the benefit of reducing pollution (an obvious win-win) he is finding they they still are reluctant to work with him.

I'm wondering if this is a common problem for the entrepreneurs in our field.

Do your prospective clients see the value in your services, or are they confused?

These are some of the most common problems that arise when a business is struggling with their brand identity.

This is a strategy that I use every single day to help me feel less stressed, and more focused !

Give it a shot for a week, and I hope it helps 😊

This is a common mistake people make when working on the new face of their business.

This is the graph I designed after finishing David C. Baker’s book “The Business of Expertise.”

One of my favourite benefits of a well positioned business is how much time and energy you will save for yourself and your clients/customers.

This graph compares the different levels of knowledge about a certain problem (shown as services) any business might try to solve.

Each square represents 1 month worth of time and energy put toward learning about and solving that problem.

The squares add up to 5 years worth of time and energy for both types of businesses (generalized and specialized).

After 5 years of work, would you rather deliver average value to your clients for 5 different problems, or deliver exponential value to clients for that 1 problem?
