We've all seen that website.
You land on the homepage and the first thing you see is a massive, high-res photo of the company headquarters or a three-paragraph "Letter from the CEO."
It looks great in a boardroom presentation. But for a customer looking for a solution? It’s just a roadblock.
Most websites are accidentally designed to please the boss, not the person actually trying to buy something.
Here are three signs your site might be ego-centric:
1. The "About Us" section is more prominent than the "How we help you."
2. Your navigation uses internal company jargon that nobody outside your office understands.
3. You’re talking about your awards before you’ve even addressed the customer’s pain point.
Your website should be a guide, not a trophy case. When you design for the user’s needs first: answering their questions and removing friction: conversions happen naturally.
Does your website speak your customers' language, or is it still speaking to the CEO?
