Exciting day

ETIO teamed up with to present our project AI-SCOUT, a project using AI and public health data to better understand and predict serious complications after cancer radiation treatment.

AI-SCOUT is a collaborative project that also involves AMII (Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute) and , bringing together expertise in epidemiology, machine learning, clinical oncology, and patient-centred digital health.

Our role?
Building the data and epidemiology backbone — making sure the science is solid, ethical, and focused on real patient outcomes.

At ETIO, we are committed to strengthening Canada’s preparedness against vaccine-preventable diseases. We were pleased to support expert commentary in the recent Reuters article: “Canada poised to lose measles elimination status, a possible harbinger of more disease outbreaks.”

In the piece, ETIO Partner & Physician Epidemiologist Dr. Nitin Mohan emphasizes that Canada’s current trajectory is a warning sign — and also an opportunity for proactive public health action.

• Trust, access, and system capacity must improve to prevent broader resurgence

💡 Our perspective:
Public health success is not only about availability of vaccines — it’s about equitable access, community engagement, and culturally safe delivery. Losing measles elimination status would signal much deeper vulnerabilities across our health system.

Canada has the expertise, infrastructure, and partnerships needed to reverse this trend — but we must act now.

ETIO was honoured to take part in the Across Boundaries 30th Anniversary Conference.

On the panel, Dr. Mohan spoke about the role of equitable health data practices in health care governance and planning—emphasizing that when equity is missing from our data, it’s missing from our systems of care.

He was also fortunate to lead a workshop that brought together diverse voices to explore innovative practices in creating equitable health spaces. The conversations were thoughtful, challenging, and inspiring—reminding us that collective dialogue is where meaningful change begins.

Thank you to the organizers and participants for creating space to envision a more inclusive, responsive, and equitable health system.

Zamplo is a connected health platform that empowers people with the resources, knowledge and tools needed to mobilize their own personalized health data.

Using Zamplo Research, projects can monitor patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), collect public health data, and securely extract survey and near real-time health data. Health Providers can use Zamplo to acquire longitudinal data to support healthcare research and quality of care.
