I sponsored my niece’s soccer team.

This past weekend, her team, the U13 Girls Darlington Energy, are champions!! 🏆⚽

1-0 victory in the Kings Cup tourney this week in Kingston.
The winning goal came with 3 minutes left on the clock. The crowd went completely wild.

As a sponsor, sure, my logo is on the jersey.

But that’s not why I do it.

I do it because I believe in backing people while they’re building something.

Sometimes it’s a young athlete. Sometimes it’s a business.

It’s a big part of why I love marketing. I have an opportunity daily to help people who are helping people.

The businesses, creators and not-for-profits I work with are often solving real problems, creating jobs, supporting families, strengthening communities, or making people’s lives a little better.

So congratulations to Darlington Energy on an incredible win and to my niece, the goalie!!🥇💜🏆

And if you’re considering sponsoring a team or community organization, do it.

But not for the ROI.

Do it because community is built by people who show up.

Business ownership is mostly solving problems nobody planned for.

This is part 2 of the anniversary photoshoot series.

For this shot, the plan was simple:

🎨 Paint brush
🎨 Paint
🎨 Plexiglass

Except when we arrived, we discovered the plexiglass we brought was frosted. Oops!

Not ideal when the entire concept depends on seeing through it. 😅

Thankfully, before we had to start rebuilding the idea, Jessica Gorlicky disappeared into the back room of her studio and came back with a perfectly clear piece of glass. Problem solved.

It got me thinking about how often this happens in business.

A supplier changes timelines. A campaign doesn’t perform the way you hoped. A client shifts priorities. Technology decides today is the day it’s going to be difficult.

The businesses that thrive aren’t the ones that never face obstacles.

They’re the ones that stay open-minded enough to adapt.

I’ve found that flexibility comes much easier when you approach your work with joy. When you’re genuinely enjoying the process, a change in plans feels less like a crisis and more like part of the adventure.

In this case, we didn’t need to pivot. But being ready to made all the difference.

And thanks to some editing magic from , the vision came to life. 💜

More behind-the-scenes moments from this content day coming soon. 🎨✨

One day I stopped downplaying what came naturally to me…
and built a business around it.

When my entrepreneur journey started, it just felt like saying yes to things.
Learning as I went.
Taking risks.
Staying curious.
Figuring it out one project, one late night, one opportunity at a time.

Purple Canvas wasn’t built in a single moment.
It was layered together through experience, creativity, burnout, excitement, good people, hard lessons, and a deep belief that businesses doing meaningful work deserve marketing partners who genuinely care.

What started as “I think I can do this” slowly became:
“I built this.”

And honestly?
The best part has never been the campaigns or the metrics.

It’s the people.
The founders with big ideas.
The collaborators who became friends.
The moments where creativity turns into real business growth.

This is the origin story.
Still being written.

For Purple Canvas’ one year anniversary, I didn’t want a typical brand shoot.

I wanted controlled chaos. Because I am a Capricorn and a middle child.

So we turned Jessica Gorlicky’s design studio into a creative playground and brought four concepts to life with an incredible team:

🎥 Painting the camera itself
🛠️ A styled pocket shot packed with the tools of the trade
🖌️ A composite painter-inspired portrait - a super fun one to help me show off the work we do
💥 And an absolutely unhinged paint splatter action shot that could have gone horribly wrong…but it was magic.

We even did my version of headshots. Which, naturally, included a purple couch.

What I love most about this shoot is that it reflects exactly what Purple Canvas has become over the last year: creative, collaborative, a little unconventional, and built by really talented people coming together to make things happen.

Hello collaboraction.

I just finished going through the selects. Final edits are on their way.

Huge thank you to:

I was on set earlier this week (I’ll always love saying that)

I put together a brand shoot for me/Purple Canvas and booked it on my 1st year business anniversary.

This photoshoot represents a major milestone and my work. How I work. How it feels to work with me. How I make things happen.

It wasn’t a typical photo shoot or basic head shots. It was a researched, multi pronged shoot with a few unique concepts and outfits … including one that was extremely risky and could have very easily failed (and I went in knowing that, so if it did, no big deal)

But it didn’t. It succeeded. Thanks to a few people who believed in the idea!

Some were onboarded with a moments notice (shout out Jessica and Miguel from - I would probably still be cleaning your floor if you both didn’t step in with your practical ideas 🤣)

Stay tuned for the final shots and big shout out to - not shown, because she was busy capturing these amazing moments. (You can hire Jess via .co)

Viral is fun.
It’s exciting. It’s a dopamine confetti cannon. 🎉

But viral is not a strategy.

And honestly? Going viral can actually hurt your socials if the wrong people are the ones finding you.

Here’s what usually happens:

A random reel blows up. Thousands of people engage. A bunch follow you because the content was entertaining in the moment… not because they actually need what you sell.

Then your next few posts get served to an audience that doesn’t really care about your brand, offer, service, or expertise.

Engagement drops. Reach gets weird. Conversions stay flat.

And six months later those same people stumble across your content again and think:
“Wait… why did I follow this account?” 😭

The question should never be:
“Can you make this go viral?”

And if it is the question… the answer is probably no.

What are we doing instead?

We’re talking directly to:
✨ our current audience
✨ our dream audience
✨ the people most likely to actually buy, book, click, inquire, or stay

We’re creating content they relate to.
Content that builds trust.
Content that gets engagement with intention.
Content that drives clicks to the website.
And yes… content that drives sales.

Because followers don’t pay the bills.
Aligned communities do.

Next time: let’s talk about how social media can absolutely drive sales when you stop treating it like a slot machine

Shout out to for making this video with me (also, she would never ask that 😆)

I didn’t plan this career.

I didn’t grow up thinking, “I’m going to run a marketing agency one day.” Or even a business for that matter. And I’ve attached my name to 3.
One exit, one almost 1 year old and 1 cookie side hustle ()

The thing is, I just… kept saying yes.

Yes to opportunities I wasn’t fully qualified for.
Yes to figuring things out as I went.
Yes to roles that stretched me in ways I didn’t expect.

And over time, all the “yes” turned into experience, confidence, and a career I genuinely love.

I help business owners and creators grow in a way that actually feels aligned - not overwhelming, not performative, not forced.

Just thoughtful, strategic, and human.

If you’re in a season of figuring it out, or feeling like something needs to change…

Trust that nudge.

It usually knows what it’s doing 💜
